Tip: in blender, to have your material look better, set the Texture Interpolation to 'closest' for a sharper pixelated look. You can find this in the Material Settings, it should be just below your Image Texture if you're using the right-hand side settings, and if you're in the Shader Editor, it is in the Image Texture node, just below it once again. Another thing you can do is go into your Render Properties, scroll down to Film, and slide the Filter Size as low as possible. To get an even cooler look for renders, set the Output Dimensions in Output Properties to '320 x 240'.

so crazy how good game engines have gotten to the point where you have to have a tutorial to make games with bad graphics

Unfortunately I don't think the Resolution tab works on UE5. No matter if I raise or lower it, it will remain the same. I expected some bugs since it hasn't been updated to UE5, still kind of a bummer tho :/

Thanks for the tutorial. I think there are 2 other steps missing, however: vertex snapping (the wobble) and changing the pixel filter type off, so it's crisp pixels. Then again, it's PS1 styled and not completely PS1. I appreciate the video all the same.

(RESOLUTION ERROR) Hi everybody, I'm using UE5 (below UE5 is working!) and the default files that I downloaded from github are having resolution issues. @I AM Variours cited the error below in the comments. But I changed a few things and now IT'S WORKING. Edit BP_RetroPostProcess, go to the Set Resolution function and in the Primary Resolution function Change the append function below with value A to 'r.SecondaryScreenPercentage.GameViewport ' (without ' ' and put the last space)

Can you make a tutorial where the players shadow is different than the character. I want the shadow to look different and have its own idle animations.

Hi Uisco, love the tutorial work you're doing! One quick question - when I import the Shader BP, it keeps responding with an error about the variable AdditionalPostEffects being missing? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

"The folder 'RetroShadersV4' should be in your root Content directory to begin with. If you want to move it to a subfolder (Shaders), then you need to do that in Unreal Engine so it updates the asset linkages."

Is a PS1 tech enthusiast, this is essentially insulting. This looks like a low-res demo with low polygon count models. If you want to see how to properly do this, go take a look at Aaron Young's work.

Because its a trendy thing indie devs are doing at the moment, mainly because you can use any asset and it looks cohesive and u can make mistakes and it still look good. And especially with current engine lighting and post process effect etc, its a really cool combo. It's like playing a ps1 game but it doesn't feel like trash to play. And also.. nostalgia
