Ok, I am 56 years old. My precious Puerto Rican wife has cooked for me for over 39 years. Now I get home WAY earlier than she does. Bueno now I do the cooking! I always made bistec con cebollas BUT I would add salsa. I made it exactly like you did and as I was serving dessert “ Me dio un beso” and she said Thank you babe…. Pero quien te enseñó? Obviamente le dije que fue usted. We are now both Subscribers to your channel. Gracias y muchas bendiciones.

this is the only recipe I use for bistec. I learned this back in 2015 and now in 2021 is STILL my go to recipe. Perfect EVERYTIME!
@jennyvega-lopez85856 жыл бұрын
I have NEVER seen the bistec cooked like this. Thank you! I've been in the kitchen since I was 9 years old with my abuelita. I've always made it the way she taught me. She would season it with ajo molido, sal, pimienta, vinagre y aceite y luego picaba cebolla y se la ponia por encima and then she'd marinate it for a day or two and then cook on low heat until tender, half way of cooking time she'd cut up another onion and add it as she liked it with lots of onions, sometimes she'd even add green and red bell peppers to the bistec. Thanks for sharing your recipe. ❤

Btw I’m 22 I had a stroke a few years back and cooking has become something that makes me feel like I can do anything following all your recipes has taught me how to make all the food that my grandmother makes but with different ingredients and that’s what I like About them thank you

Your instructions are clear, and you don't keep us waiting because, let's be honest, we just want to cook and eat... 😄 By the way, if you add sauce to your bistec encebollado, it's no longer just bistec encebollado; it's now bistec gisao. Kudos to your husband and your dad for their contributions!

Shaun everyone cooks differently. From what I saw the bistec looked really nice and tender so that worked for her. Those other ways probably don't come out as soft as this. I'm Puerto Rican, I live here and all her recipes are authentic Puerto Rican foods. A few ingredients might change bc not everyone cooks the same or has the same taste. For example in my habichuelas guisadas I use cooking ham and potatoes if I have on hand. If not I'll make them just like hers. Ida, I love your channel. When I cook criolla food I call my mom and grandma now I won't have to. Thanks for your videos!

Thanks for your videos, I'm 25 and been married for 4 years. Though my father is boricua, I never learned how to make authentic Puerto Rican food! (Even going to PR every year of my life till the age of 15 didn't do it) I've just made anything and put sofrito in it lol. But I made this the other night and my husband was pleased. I think I put too much vinegar however, the taste was just a bit vinegary. And as for the beans, I actually was taught by my father to do it this way, so thanks!!

@Cheryle Vazquez Thank you! Don't worry about the tenderizer. Cook it a bit longer on low and it will be tender.
@FlowerGeek7912 жыл бұрын
Oh wow I just made Bistec Encebollado yesterday. What I do to make the meat tender is that I marinate it for 4-6 hrs in a ziploc bag with basically the same ingredients you used. This cuts the cook time in half because you do not have to wait until they are tender. My hubby likes the onions soft and I also add bell peppers for him. For my kids and I, I add pimento stuffed green olives. I also sprinkle a little more vinegar on my meat when plated.
