FULL RECIPE BELOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Talofa Everyone and welcome to yet another cooking vlog! In this vlog we are going to be making Puligi Saka which translates to Boiled Pudding. A traditional take on this Pacific Island classic. Just in time for the Christmas season soon!
Also I have included the recipe on how to make the custard as well, just like the store bought bottle. If you're new to my channel, WELCOME! Don't forget to like and subscribe! Complete recipe will be available soon!
RECIPE FOR PULIGI SAKA WITH CUSTARD
Puligi Ingredients
Muslin
Cooking Twine
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
5 cups self raising flour
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp nutmeg
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tbsp vanilla essence
250g margarine
1 can coconut cream
1 cup milk
1m Muslin
1 cooking twine
Custard Ingredients
2 ½ Mlik
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
Puligi Recipe
1) Wash out muslin material and squeeze excess water
2) Fill pot with water halfway and boil
3) Melt 1 cup of sugar in a separate pot (keep a close eye on this) until the sides start bubbling up and turn on low. Add coconut cream, milk and margarine to cool mix down and stir
4) In a bowl, add 5 cups flour, 1 cup sugar and tbsp nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix dry ingredients together, also adding in baking soda
5) Add caramel mix in pot. Also add in eggs and then stir through the mix.
6) Grab the muslin material and double fold. Cover a bowl with muslin to pour the mix in.
7) Once puligi mix has been poured in muslin, tie a knot on top of muslin, leaving space for puligi to rise
8) Add to your boiling water pot and allow to cook through, making sure the knotted part is above the water and floating on top, preventing water seeping through. BOIL FOR 2-2 ½ HOURS WITH LID ON
9) Using tea-towel, carefully remove puligi from pot and place on plate to cool down
10) Once cooled down, remove muslin and slice to serve.
Custard Recipe
1) Add 2 cups of water and 1 cup of milk to a pot and bring to boil
2) Add 4 tbsp custard powder to a measuring cup and add 1 ½ cup milk and stir through
3) Add 1 cup of sugar to milk mix in pot and also add custard powder mix and stir through.
4) Allow to cook through on medium heat until the custard becomes thick. Add milk if too thick and serve with puligi.

@@venizales the material used is my question. Any thin material but double it is that right? When you put it in the pot of water, water will not go in through the material?
@venizales
@venizales 3 жыл бұрын
@@saronamanu2303 Hi Sarona, so the material I used for this vlog was a type of cooking material. Many people use particularly for puddings. I doubled my material in this vlog to make sure the pudding mix doesn't seep out of it whilst boiling it. The material holds all the pudding mix without leaking so it sort of acts like a 'steaming' process. In the end it comes out nice and cooked right through. But yes, the material is 'muslin' and i purchased it at Spotlight - can be found at any materials store nearby..
