I made this with my niece and she took it in her school lunch and loved it! She usually doesn't eat her sandwich unless its homemade but even regular white homemade bread she'll leave the crust, but with the rainbow homemade bread she ate every bit of it!

It was such good fun time making this. I made this for my husband for lunch and his co workers said they can't stop stare at it while he eat his sandwiches lol. I think only going to do this once only because it is so time consuming, and also regarless how careful I was, wrapped the rest of the dough in plastic wrap while knealing the dough with color, all of the doughs turn out pretty dried in the end.

Yes you can omit it, the yeast converts the carbohydrates in the flour (sugar) into food and it works just as well. I make pizza dough all the time without a spec of sugar and it rises nicely. Sugar in bread recipes makes the dough rise faster, that's all.

Most MEASURING cups sets in North America are pretty standard and are the same size. The cups are specifically sold for measuring dry and wet ingredients and not to drink out of. Basically a cup is the volume that 250ml of liquid takes up.

What if you separated the mixture into equal parts for the coloring while still liquid, then add in the flour instead of staining your hands and countertop while incorporating the color into the dough

Either let it wait longer before putting in the oven. Or you can keep the salt for last instead of mixing it in early since it kills the yeast. Also heating the milk on the stove is better since it keeps it from getting warm, remember that yeast is a living thing and that it dies from overheating, like us it needs a heat up to 36 celsius degrees that is about our body heat. the milk should be your fingers temperature, so use your finger to feel it.
@yoyomax1211 жыл бұрын
This is just regular bread with coloured dough. Follow the directions on the package of yeast you have for use and you should be fine.
@yoyomax1211 жыл бұрын

In all the years I have been making bread I've never had an issue with bread not rising. The only thing I can think of is that your yeast isn't active enough or that you are letting it rise in too cool temperature? This is a mystery for sure.

Because this is instant rise yeast, you don't need to proof it by letting it bubble. If I would have let this sit for a bit, it would have.

I find that separating and coloring the milk makes it easier to spread the color so you don't have to knead so much. This is an especially good method if you have liquid food coloring. You just have to give each of the separated milk an equal amount of flour.

Making this now! Gonna use some for a sandwich I can grab about at lunch,and using some to go with soup for dinner EDIT: omfg this turned out BEAUTIFUL,I made some potatoe soup to go with it. Sooo pretty! I think I'll use your dough recipe from now on,it works out really well. Personally I add about a half a cup to the yeast mixture and make a paste BEFORE I add the salt. Sometimes salt can mess up the yeast,so I do that and then add the remainder of the flour and salt

Hi Tammy, when I made this and let it rise, it did not rise. I am using highly active dry yeast and I did the ingredients good. I made this 6 times. They never rose. Is there something wrong? I always end up with a 3 inch piece of bread... but it's still yummy! Thank you! :*
