Wow, it's amazing to watch a craftsman work his magic. Asking questions and seeing the answers from around you, guess you weren't preoccupied in class. Bravo. Thanks again. Waiting for more.

technique for adding "use" to slick tires: hold a foam sanding in one hand and a car in the other. Rub the car in a circular motion around the sanding block for about 3 to 4 minutes, and you will end up with that gritty matte look of slicks. Just a fan passing along tricks.

Maybe use a hot file a then run the tire across it to make a heat impression of the file for a tread like appearance. Cool tires!

I've seen someone making treads by putting the wheels on lathe-like contraption, spinning them, and making parallel cuts with x-acto knife

Awesome! Wonder if the modeling trick of sanding the tires (vinyl in this case) would create a more realistic rubber tire look? Or maybe you could slide a section of the vinyl tubing on a section of similar diameter pipe and put it in the lathe and then use a wire brush or wire comb (used for cleaning paint brushes) and scratch some light grooves on the outer edge of the vinyl. Well either way I dig the idea. KUTGW on these cool tutorials!

To make tread you can take clay and flat it down . Then take a wheel that has tread and roll it on the clay . Than make a mold of it . Then you can heat the tire you made and roll it on the mold . Then let it cool .
@squirrelkilla73718 жыл бұрын
Maybe use a file, heated and the tires rolled over it to add tread?

How about if you were to put it back on the lathe and gently bring a cutter in slowly as not to melt the vinyl. Thanks for the great videos and tutorials also. My other hobby is model railroading and I'm always scratchbuilding or kitbashing something to save on cost, keep the great videos coming.

I wonder if you could put treads on by using a flatten pen spring heating it up? Or perhaps heating a small hobby file rolling the tyre on that? Just a suggesting.

I have tried using a styrofoam cutter to make the tyre treading on the plastic wheels but it's of course it makes only straight lines.
@Honestblades5 жыл бұрын
I've been trying this off and on for three weeks. I have the exact cutters and the same exact brand and size of tubing. It's Impossible. I think you mis spoke when you said the size of the tubing is 1/4". A bigger size is the only way this will work.
