This Hasegawa kit is truly great, indeed. However, it's quite expensive. Tamiya made this kit, too, and can be found for far less money. The Tamiya version is, because of its age, nowhere near as detailed as this one. Tip : this is a fun airplane to build and it looks nicer in person than it does in pictures. It really has some elegant shapes. Tamiya or Hasegawa...... : buy this kit !!!!

One more tip for future buyers of this kit : if you use the term "F1M2 Pete " in Google Images, you get to see mostly green airplanes........ Do not worry !!! This airplane flew in many different camo's and colors !! ;-) It could be seen in : white, medium green (IJN), dark green (IJN), IJN and IJA light grey, IJN and IJA light green, orange, black and even pale purple !! Plenty of choice, I'd say ! And this airplane looks great in any of these colors. ;-)

I love WW-2 Japanese seaplanes. I wish Hasegawa would make a 1/48 scale Aichi Jake and 1/48 H8K2 Emily. With sitting crew members. I have 3 Hasegawa Petes with 1/48 Tamiya or old Monogram 1/48 scale sitting crew members. They have had both of these Japanese seaplanes since 1971-2 in 1/72 scale.

I wonder why nobody uses cross locking tweezers anymore? Standard needle-nose tweezers are great for quick work, but cross-locks are an absolute must for me when holding parts for an extended time.
