Reed Diffuser Math
The formula we use to calculate the amount of base and fragrance:
(base weight) x (the percentage of fragrance) = amount of fragrance
(base weight) - (amount of fragrance) = amount of diffuser base
- - -
And here’s the formula in action for one of the reed diffusers we made:
1. Note the bottle’s net weight capacity and the fragrance load you want to use.
In this demo, the black bottle holds a total of 3.5 oz by weight. And the fragrance load we’re using is 15%, which is .15 in decimal form.
2. Multiply 3.5 oz x .15.
(3.5 oz) x (.15) = .52
.52 oz is the amount of fragrance oil, by weight, to use.
3. Now take the total bottle capacity of 3.5 oz and subtract .52 oz from it.
(3.5 oz) - (.52 oz) = 2.98 oz.
2.98 oz is the amount of reed diffuser base, by weight, to use.
Always be sure to weigh your ingredients!
