Great demo. Will try. Love your sense of humor. There is a kind of a Portland vibe which is nice

Can you post the link to the underglaze recipe? Also where you get the rice paper you like. Thanks, looking forward to trying out.

Is the Karo/Gum mixture for all colors added or just the mason-stain based outline ink? So, could I just use commercial underglazes on my transfer paper, or do they need to be the mixture of mason stain/underglaze/Karo/gum? Thanks so much, this was a great video!

I've tried it both ways with mixed success. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not. A lot has to do with the clay's moisture level.

So I never saw you add any water to the transfer when applying to the moist clay you just rubbed it onto the clay correct?
@deedeeshark3292 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's best when the clay is perfectly leather hard neither too wet or dry. If your clay has dried out try sponging some water on lightly either directly to the area you are applying or over the top of the transfer. This is not ideal as sometimes it can smear the "ink" or cause the paper to tear. Use water sparingly and carefully.

Would be awesome if you show each ingredient close up so we can copy it. Or list it on Paper give us a close up of that so we can copy it. I need to write down. And would like proper spelling of the items. Thanks. This was informative

This is a blurb from the original article, hope it helps "For the ceramic ink mixture, you’ll need Karo syrup, Mason Stain 6600 Black (or any color you choose) Duncan EZ Stroke Underglaze Black 012 (or a color coordinated Duncan EZ Stroke underglaze if mixing another color), and CMC gum solution thinned to a light cream consistency. If you use any other underglazes, choose ones with a low clay content. Put one tablespoon of Karo Syrup into your container, and add two teaspoons of Mason Stain. Mix thoroughly, then add a teaspoon of Duncan EZ Stroke 012 Black. Finally, add a tablespoon of CMC gum solution, and mix thoroughly." Duncan was bought out by Mayco but I've found success with other underglaze lines so don't worry about the brand so much, just find an underglaze in the color of your choice.

Thanks so much for the demonstration. I really like how you are using the medium to express your own unique art. You mentioned that you use thinner rice paper. Can you advise a good supplier (assuming you procure yours from a different vendor than the one listed in Ceramic arts.org.). I am using some transfer paper (blanks) that I obtained from Sanbao. The paper is thin, brownish in color and translucent. It works well but they do not provide the name of it so I can't gauge whether I can get it elsewhere for less money.

Thank you so much! I added a link to the rice paper I used from Blick in the comments. In the article I attached, the author includes her preference. I've never used the kind you describe but, it sounds cool! Sorry I don't have any leads on that.
