These are a wonderful alternative to a Runza sandwich. A combination of crispy, savory and doughy. Try it out! And thanks for watching

Chef John, those look so good! Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I love egg roll wrappers because you can really wrap up so many different things and cook them! Nice job sir! ~Chris

My wife's runzas are made from mushroom and sauerkraut, and now I'm thinkin' that would go great as an eggroll filling. Thanks for a cool idea!

Nice video. I have found that egg roll wraps are very versatile. I've made chicken cordon bleu egg rolls(chkn chunks, Diced ham, Swiss cheese cubes seasoned salt and pepper), Vietnamese style eggrolls(ground pork, sweet potato starch glass noodles, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots and my homemade teriyaki glaze for seasoning) burger melt egg rolls (ground beef, American cheese, chopped pickles, fried onion strips, salt pepper ketchup and mustard to taste) you're welcome to private message me to ask for details if you need them. Feel free to grab any of those ideas. Very simple and a good use for any leftover wrappers!

It's Only Food w/Chef John Politte since I have your ear for the moment, I have a video request. I've been trying to make lobster bisque. And I can't seem to get it right. I'm trying to make one similar to red lobsters, but meatier either with extra lobster or some shrimp or some kind of white flesh fish. Would you be willing to make an attempt? I'd love to see your version!

As of now I am backlogged on videos. But I will add this to my ideas for shows to do. I will also give you a shout out as a request from a friend of the show. Great idea

Captain Ds (Long John Silvers in some areas) currently has a lobster treat that is not a quite a bisque but more of a cold sandwich spread lodged into a long sweet roll that is quite tasty. Perhaps you should stop by and try one out? Chef, I want more in depth reporting on this thing called Runza. I am surprised, fascinated and hungry.

Runza? I've never even heard that word before. But this is an interesting recipe. I've made gyoza before but never eggrolls. Looks more fun, and I guess you can fill it with whatever you want... burrito eggrolls even ;)

Nice twist, we are from Lincoln Nebraska, home of the original Runza. When you go try the cheese runza with onion rings and onion dip. People my raise an eyebrow if you use ketchup or mustard on one...lol

Im origally from Phoenix but have lived in Nebraska for over 5 yrs. I Never heard of Runza till I came here but let me tell you they are great. My favorite is the swis and muchroom. Personally I dont care for all the bread because its soggy and gernally I eat just the inside stuffing so this eggroll concept enticed me. Also funny fact. Nebraska people say "Deep Fat Fry" instead of "deep fry" as a cooking method. Lol. Example: "we are going to have deep fat fried chicken tonight for Supper." Lol. Instead of "We're having Fried chicken for dinner tonight". Lol. Why do they add the word "Fat"? Like dont remind me how bad this is for me. Anyways cant wait to try
