Great little video tutorial. Made me smile all the way through. Loving the little gadget for mixing the butter and flour, and loved the addition of natural yoghurt. I'm the husband/Dad/baker in our family, so I'll be giving this a go on this foul rainy day up here in Scotland. "sc ON' rather than "sc OWN" in my humble opinion - though this is possibly a regional thing. You're a lucky couple living down there in that beautiful part of the country...if not the world. Thanks guys. 👍 PS I've heard a few bakers who say not to twist the cutter when cutting them out. Apparently it can cause the scone to collapse a bit on the one side. I dip the cutter in some flour before cutting each one out. This allows you to cut simply by pressing down. Mind you, your results can't be faulted. Proof of the pudding etc....
@CornishWalkingTrails3 жыл бұрын
Tbh, we floured the cutter but it made such an awful noise, we cut that from the edit!! Good tip! Sarah :)

This is a really lovely video Sarah and as always the fun element as well. You two are always so smiley and happy. Andrew is a very good looking chap and we don't often see him without his hat!! When its raining and you cant get out you should do more of these like Cook Along With Andrew. I imagined you to use Cornish-ware in blue and white, i love it but very expensive it was first made in the 1920s. My mum used to like it. I think a cream tea is more special when its set out like afternoon tea and i say scone as Andrew does the 'bone' option not the 'gone' option. Jam first of course. 😊 xx

I consider myself a reasonably competent cook and have experimented with the GF flour but I find the results are usually disappointing, and the flour itself is expensive. I consider myself a reasonably competent cook and have experimented with the GF flour but I find the results are usually disappointing, and the flour itself is expensive. Also you end up making a batch that you feel you have to eat quickly before they go stale - not good for the waistline. So I have concluded that it is better to let the supermarkets make their offerings palatable and in smaller portions!! Sarah :)

Here in the antipodes - Adelaide, Australia, we are passionate for our afternoon teas. The ongoing, fiery argument over local Adelaide Cornish scones (cream then jam) or Devonshire scones (jam then cream) is an historic rivalry to compare with any Ashes series. For me, jam first , then - itsgone.
@stephenjohns38173 жыл бұрын

@@CornishWalkingTrails Up north (Sth Lancashire) they used to sell muffins, known as baps down south, that were plain. Also tea cakes, which were a slightly sweeter style of muffin.
