Learn how to make Shanghai Style Pork Zongzi step-by-step. The recipe is a no-fuss recipe and everyone can learn how to make this recipe. There's a step-by-step step on how to wrap and fold your zongzi for those who are interested in learning. Of course, there are many different ways to fold your zongzi and this is one of many. Ingredients:
To assemble the zongzi, you’ll need:
75-80 dried bamboo leaves (2 per zongzi. Toss out broke leaves!)
5 pounds uncooked glutinous rice or "sweet rice"
3 lbs pork belly (Preferred)
Roast Chestnuts (optional)
Kitchen twine
For the pork marinade, you’ll need:
¼ cup light soy sauce
3 tbsp dark soy sauce
4 tsp salt
5 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp Shaoxing wine
1 tsp white pepper
1 tsp five-spice powder
¼ cup water (you may not need this, but if you do, you’ll add 2 tablespoons at a time)
For the rice marinade, you’ll need:
5 tbsp light soy sauce
5 tbsp dark soy sauce
1½ tbsp sugar
2½ tbsp salt

Thanks for the great recipe! There’s a ton of these types of recipes for Cantonese style zongzi but not so much for the Shanghainese style which I grew up with.

hallo you can add garlic chopped n shallot for the taste Mr.. bec i also making too..so the smell can fregnant..too

That is Cantonese style of wrapping not Shanghai normally Shanghai one are long not right
