Could you possibly coat in egg White, cover in powder, bake, recover in egg white and bake again?

Grinding up the shells will provide a great source of calcium for the shrimp.

You can give spud the shell too 😉 tis good for him. I give my pups whole raw egg it's extremely entertaining 🤣

Thank you I love the idea of making my lil scrimps a homemade treat! 🥺🥰 I would suggest coating your stick in egg white and then putting into a container full of the powder with a lid. Then close the lid and shake to coat your sticks faster and easier! I also have heard, and saw someone commented that you can add some powdered eggshell to the mix as well. Would you suggest baking or boiling the shell in that case? And about how much do you think you would add?
@ninarichards2046 Жыл бұрын
I have powdered leaves already. Like nettle and dandelion. I also have bee pollen, calcium bicarbonate, and spirulina powder. Approximately how much should I use of everything if I want to make lollies?

Hey - great video! did you put the sticks in the oven after sprinkling them with egg and powder? or should they just air dry? thank you :-)
@tarynrichardson52434 жыл бұрын
What are the best leaves to use. I'm in the US. And did you find something better then egg white to make the leave powder stick?
@MARKSAQUATICS4 жыл бұрын
Oak and all fruit leaves. Nettles, are all good.
@kikkz126 жыл бұрын
use a coffee grinder, it will make the powder really into powder, very fine and will yield a better outcome, even better buy some egg white powder and mix it into the powder, about 20% then you are golden :)

@philthytanks49527 жыл бұрын
if you mix a little gelatin powder with the egg whites before putting the greens on it should hold much better and is still healthy and safe for them
@MARKSAQUATICS7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Phil..
@liauksas7 жыл бұрын
Well gelatin is animal based and is not really recommended for shrimps. Use agar agar instead
@iainwitton2586 жыл бұрын
Veg based agar agar ,egg white plus any powder food u like mix then add a little water till its smooth but not runny then bake it and it will give a nice glazed finish takes a little bit to get the consistency right but That's what I found best shrimps have to work at it abit to get it off and doesn't end up all over tank. Many ingredients you can make them with too like garlic, spurillia, krill, kelp, brine shrimp eggs, bee pollen etc. Make to a powder or buy it as powder and make some nice mixes for them. I use bamboo kabab sticks But seen others use lollie sticks etc Once dried and stored Last long time too.
@4funrc115 жыл бұрын
@@iainwitton258 - Thx. :) But don't you think that using such a small amount of gelatin will really be very harmful? Also, animal based maybe beneficial? I don't know, I should search and see. ;)
@iainwitton2585 жыл бұрын
@@4funrc11 for me its more I use veg based food any way because in wild they feed heavily on biofilm and leaf litter, meat is a food I feed them but very rarely , I'm not sure gelatin would give them any benefits. agar agar is easy to get hold of so I've just stuck with it .with shrimp the smallest thing can stress them or make ill so I dont risk it personally

Hey mark does it clouds the water ? because the scene where you placed them into the tank , the water seems cloudy maybe due to the egg matter ?
@MARKSAQUATICS7 жыл бұрын
No not at all. The light in that tank is very strong and giving me some algea problems going to swap it out, give it a nice water change that'll sort it out. But the treats don't cloud the water at all .Work great in all my other tanks.

awesome, I gotta find some blenders that are no longer used in the kitchen to try this :) btw any idea how this could last after putting in and out from the oven ? there's some expiry period right ?

what temperature for how long you need to oven the stick?
@ninarichards20465 жыл бұрын
Where do you get the nettles and whatnot? What temp do you dry the leaves at? Do you have portions? And I can’t find the video for the shrimp matchsticks, I was looking for it. I just want a simple recipe with quantities and instructions and I can’t seem to find anything.
