Simple and easy to understand thanks. Just wish the volume for the cutting/routing wasn't so loud.

Wow. Great vid! I have a mitre saw instead that i'm just learning to use. Can you use that also using that piece of wood you marked the measurements on? Probably not. :(
@finchcraftuk2662 жыл бұрын
Hi Not with a mitre saw as it would be pretty dangerous and wouldn't be very accurate, you could cut all of the angles at 45° though and glue them together, that would make a decent box Hope this helps

Hope you can answer those: Is it good for storing collectible cards, such as Magic The Gathering / Baseball cards / Pokémon? They are cardboard, so humidity is an important factor so they don't bend. Also, better to keep them raw for that purpouse or paint/seal the MDF? Awesome video, thanks
@finchcraftuk2668 жыл бұрын
If I'm honest with you Bruno, I wouldn't like to say, I think that they would be ok but don't quote me on that one, painting them in a gloss might offer more protection maybe,.?
@BrunoConfortin8 жыл бұрын
Hey. Yeah, after thinking for a while, I think it'll be better if I paint the box. Not a fact, just a thought: MDF sucks humidity, right? So if the box is opened, it gets humid and I close the lid, it will stay humid and might damage the cards after a while. If it's painted and varnished, that will not happen. I think. Anyways, I don't have all of that fancy equipment. I bought the raw MDF box and will do my best to sand it and paint it. Hope it turns out to be ok. Thanks :D

+My Version Hi, I actually have! It's not bad stuff to be honest but it's not as strong as the evo-stick,. I might upload a video testing the different strengths of various brands to see which is the best 👍🏻

How to do this without a table saw a router table? How many occasional DIYers have those?
@finchcraftuk2666 жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m an occasional DIYer, I’ve just made myself a router table from watching other people on KZbin 😂 You can use similar techniques and use glue and tax nails for the boxes, I have found that evo stick and no more nails glue holds MDF extremely well, you can cut the strips of MDF with a panel saw or a circular saw if you have one? Hope this helps 👍🏻
@finchcraftuk2666 жыл бұрын
My point? Another way to build the boxes without a router table

Are you using just normal PVA Wood glue ? I'm making pigeon pens and was planning on using PVA Wood glue on MDF because I have a lot of it already, but on most videos I see people using the Mitre Fast super glue with the spray activator. Does the PVA Wood glue work just as good with MDF, but just takes longer to set ?
@finchcraftuk2668 жыл бұрын
BoxxerCore hello Yes I just use PVA wood glue (evo stick) this is the strongest that I've used so far Also with this style of box joint it should be more than strong enough, especially if you put plenty on
@BoxxerCore8 жыл бұрын
Finchcraft Cheers , I'll be sticking with with PVA then. I really didn't want to have to go and buy a lot of that other stuff as it's pretty expensive compared to PVA.

Routers can be picked up pretty cheap nowadays, if you don’t have a router then you could use a table saw to get the cut
