love this - I was having trouble finishing off fingerless gloves with enough stretch to fit well and my friend sent me to your video - and now I also want to make socks for the upcoming holiday shows I'm doing as well as for family ❤

Thank God for you. I was having so much trouble with making socks. I was ready to give up. I didn’t know about the size of the crochet hook could make such a difference.

Are trying to make a heel on the small knitting machine or on a knitting loom?

Is the sock block creating the heel?

Yes. The sock is a tube sock.

Can you do babies socks on Aldi 22
@NinjaBunnyCrochetАй бұрын
Not that I am aware of. Knitting machines have a fixed number of stitches so it is not possible to make smaller or wider tubes.

The addi is a fixed needle machine which means the number of stitches can’t be changed. It would take some time and research to figure out if there is a-work-around to make smaller socks on it.

@@NinjaBunnyCrochet I'm late to the game and new to the Addi; but maybe a small flat panel with a drawstring toe and a mattress stitch up the sides?

How thin yarn can I use in Addi Express 22 pin?
@NinjaBunnyCrochet11 ай бұрын
I used worsted weight yarn. Pretty much the same yarn that you can use in the 46 pin addi King size.

So, I can't use merinowool Manos del Uruguay Alegria? There is 28-30 stitches/4"
@NinjaBunnyCrochet11 ай бұрын
I am unfamiliar with that yarn. However, if it is thinner than worsted weight or possibly a DK weight it is likely not going to work well in the addi express.
@Fatamorgana195711 ай бұрын
@@NinjaBunnyCrochet You're right, it won't work in Addi Express. The yarn is to thin. Thank for your answers. Have a nice day/Evelina.

Single strand you will have a see through sock as it is not thick enough. You can double it

At the very end, on the sock blockers, one of your socks is curling at the top and the other isn't. I'm having the problem where both my socks are curling at the top. How can I stop that?
@NinjaBunnyCrochet10 ай бұрын
I think it’s a tension thing. My socks still curl somewhat too.

Addi express has 22 needles. The addi king size has 46 needles.

I don't recommend this method, so before actually seeing this video, I tried before this exact method, and at the heel, if you try the sock without creating a heel, either with short rows or waste yarn etc, you can clearly see through the sock the foot heel, and it doesn't have a nice aspect to be actually worn as a sock... I don't want to be mean or smth, I know how much time consuming it can be creating yt videos. 😊
@NinjaBunnyCrochet Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I didn’t have that issue at the heel as you did.

I’ll have to agree. I have an Addi Express and I hand knit socks as well. The Addi is good for various things, but the 22 needles and open/loose weave it creates aren’t ideal for a tube slipper as there’s no strength in the heel and the weave is open when stretched over a moving foot. It looks nice on the sock blocker, but you can see how open the weave is when stretched even slightly. Doubling the fabric like you do for hats on an Addi King or Sentro seems to help some, but the heel area will wear through quickly - especially if worn on carpeting. Just a heads up to those who haven’t tried this before.

@@wdbreezyI have a addi 22 pin coming soon, I also knit and wanted to use some of my yarn hoard😊 so I bought a Addi to do quick projects, what is this little machine good for anyway besides scarves
@NinjaBunnyCrochet11 ай бұрын
I don’t know how to knit with needles so I use my Addi machines. These slipper socks are not are intended for heavy duty use. I have not experienced major wearing or excessive stress at the heal but results may vary. I have used addi express for toys, baby hats, cuffs and brims, scarves etc.

@@NinjaBunnyCrochet personally I’d wear those socks to bed, because I get cold feet or just to hang around the house watching tv or wearing with birks

You are working against yourself pulling the yarn with your thumb on that strong angle of the yarn guide. MY guess an experience is it works best going directly straight into the guild and have the yarn in a bucket on the floor. I would advise holding the yarn at that angle to operated this machine.
