Earlier this year when my Nest protect smoke detectors expired, it led me to trying to find a replacement. When looking at the detectors with built-in smarts, they were priced at more than I wanted to pay. Luckily, I came across the Zooz ZEN55. I bought "dumb" smoke/co detectors in a contractor pack and replaced them all. I set my automation to turn on all the interior lights, turn off the HVAC system, unlock all the doors, raise the garage door, announce over the smart speakers and send a notification to our phones. I saw someone do something similar on another channel. They also had it turn on lights to help wake them and assist them getting out of the house or getting children out of the house. They also made their outdoor lights turn red to allow neighbors to see something was wrong and to assist the fire department locating the house. The one thing they debated on was having the front door automatically unlock, then the fire department wouldn't have to break the door. But this then poses a security risk of you house being unlocked if you aren't home.

Will it also notify you when one of the alarms in the system chirps dues to a low battery?
