Hi, How much water? My first roti was from a Trinidadian friend love them.
@SBLtasteoffiji3 ай бұрын
About 1 cup, but you have to watch the dough. Depending on the flour you use, you may need more or less.
@FunAtHomeCollectibles5 ай бұрын
Do you have any tips for layering the roti? Yours looked layered when you broke it open, but I didn't see you folding it over and re-rolling. Do I need to do that? Have an AWESOME day !! 🎥💥🔥👍☮
@SBLtasteoffiji5 ай бұрын
I think if you make sure your dough is done kneaded properly, the texture will be somewhat layered. But if you wanted to make more evident layers, you can spread a little oil or ghee after rolling it out to maybe 4 inches wide. Then sprinkle a little dry flour and fold over and roll again. I’ll try to make a video showing the technique one of these days. Hope the instructions are helpful.

Hi, I thought when you use All purpose flour you had to used baking powder to get it to rise? whereas if we use Self rise flour no need for baking powder. How long do you bake the roti on the tawa?
@SBLtasteoffiji8 ай бұрын
Hi! Cook time can vary depending on thickness of tawa and flame etc. As for the flour, adding baking powder would just make the roti thicker and not necessarily make it puff up.

I’m not sure what could’ve gone wrong. This recipe always turns out right for me. Maybe you didn’t use enough water? Was your dough hard before you rolled into rotis? Or maybe it was cooked for too long on too low of a flame?

Can i make my roti in a non stick frying pan
@SBLtasteoffiji Жыл бұрын
You can but keep an eye on the heat. Non-stick pans usually can’t be used on high heat. If you make roti frequently, I recommend getting a cast iron pan. They last forever and are better for your health ♥️

Perhaps there wasn't enough water, or it was cooked for too long. I've usually had success with this recipe, but sometimes factors like the type and age of the flour and humidity can affect how the dough turns out. I encourage people to keep practicing.

@SBLtasteoffiji Жыл бұрын
Adjust the water gradually, adding one tablespoon at a time and allowing it to rest. Due to variations in flour and other factors, it's difficult to provide an exact measurement for the required water.
