I made this substance yesterday but used lavender oil because that's what I had on hand. I sprayed all the cracks to my doors that lead outside. I sprayed all the window sills as well. felt something crawling on my arm.. hoping it was an ant like last time I shone my phone light onto my arm to find a inch sized spider... I moved into an apt a few yrs ago. Was putting dishes, pots and pans away. I turned around after pulling out drawer on bottom of my stove and there RIGHT behind me on the kitchen counter was a GIANT BROWN RECLUSE. I MEAN IT WAS THE SIZE OF A SAUCER. It just was staring at me, like one and a half ft away from me. I had nothing there to kill it with. All I could think of was it’s gonna jump in my face and bite me. The thing looked like it was twenty years old. It has almost red long ass legs that were like almost three full inches long. So while I was praying for protection, I slowly lifted my foot up and very slowly took my flip flop off and killed the crap out of it. Like twenty times. Then promptly got in my car and went to co-op and bought 8 brown recluse spider traps, some spray just for them and a giant sprayer. I sprayed the total complete inside of that apt, plus the outside. Bricks, dirt, holes, windows. Everything. Plus I did not sleep for months. I hate hate HATE spiders!

In the US, you can buy bug bombs that spray a mist out that kills spiders and bugs. You have to be really careful to follow the directions exactly. You remove your family, friends, and pets, no food items or dishes sitting out, follow the directions exactly. Get everything prepared, start the aerosol can of spray off, and scoot out of the house. All doors and windows closed. Don’t come back until the directions say it’s okay. When you return, you open the windows and doors to air the house out, and wipe everything down where food will be. It really works!

I've used a similar recipe for years. I live on a lake and the harmless spiders around here are very prolific web spinners. The webs are what annoys me most. It does cut down noticeably on the webs indoors or outdoors in a very well covered area... meaning it's easily washed off by the rain, dew etc... A different approach is needed areas where the elements are a factor.

For the ceiling I use a glass jar now. It is very affective. If you try anything else they ALWAYS immediately drop down or fall to the ground and run. With the jar just put it up the ceiling around the spider, slide the jar lip gently (not trying to kill it) to the spider, it will drop in the jar. Quickly put the lid on and now you have a spider pet you can keep or release or you can do what I sometimes do and capture a few spiders in the same jar and see them eat each other. After a few days you start sympathizing with the spider that keeps winning and I tend to release them outside eventually.

I also lightly spray this on my outside lights to keep flying bugs, a food source to them, at bay and regularly "zone clean" the entire house (like spring cleaning, only more regularly, which is much faster/easier), and this works really well. I use a more concentrated version with lavender, orange, peppermint, citronella and lemongrass as well as more soap (suffocate to them), because we just moved into a newly built house with black widows (and their young) and moved from a previous house with even more there. Might mix in borox if I need to (with a mask), but so far so good.

replace your outdoor porch lights with "bug lights". it's an inexpensive bulb that has a amber coating on them, bugs can't see that spectrum of light and they won't be attracted by it cause they can't see it. you can find them at Lowe's for sure and maybe home depot.

You don't need large amounts of soap since it is only used to break the surface tension of the water and allow the rest of the liquid to cover evenly. For a great fruit fly trap just put about a quarter cup of vinegar and a drop of dish detergent in some water and set it out in a container with some holes in the top like a glass grated cheese shaker. Leave it on your kitchen counter and change it out at least twice a week. You will see the flies on the bottom of the container. Without the detergent the flies float on the surface and don't drown or worse yet fly out.

Surfactants help make the area more difficult to navigate. Creatures like insects and spiders are after the least effort to survive, if there's an easier route to take, they will. Best bet is still to clean regularly, and have a pest control company come out and spray. The sprayed areas are usually good to go and use after a few hours, and are huge deterrents for what isn't killed in the initial application. Majoritively good placebo effect, minorly an applicable deterrent.

If you want a mixture that kills the spiders as well add half a bottle some hairspray and a little soap but not dish soap (only use if nothing else available) shower gel is the easiest liquid to use but make sure to shake it for about two minutes to let the chemicals mix

I keep on telling my friends that what if it was a mother and if there was more of them and now they are coming after me. Yesterday there was a spider on my blanket, it was smaller than the one I killed. So I started freaking out because it might of been her children and that they are coming after me. Today...a smaller spider, but it was crawling on my face...my face. TT^TT

I hate spiders with a passion. If I see it, I will kill it. No hesitation. Outside it’s a different story. I might on a rare occasion shrug it off, pass it by (as long as it’s not a big a** spider). Inside, they’re dead meat. From big to teensy tiny almost invisible, no matter. I will kill it on sight without exception. I will NEVER shrug my shoulders and walk away. If I see it, I’m on a mission to destroy it.

Funny! I say the same thing about 🐝! Summer time is crucial! I finally killed one this summer & my friend was smoking! That big red country 🐝 came and I said that's the cousin's coming after me! I ran in the house almost tear the screen door down! She's just laughing! Not funny!😒

it does not work ! I spray it direct on the spider but she dont move !!! use pepermint then try to test with clove then ocalyptus but nothing ! it was simple spider not big or huge !

Try shaking your mixture and if that doesn't work add hairspray it suffocates them

Personally, I find it so much easier to place a clear cup over the spider, then drag the cup slowly to coax the spider to climb up the cup, slide a paper plate under it and take them outside. There are never that many spiders in the house at the same time to induce me to make a spray for them. I currently have a what looks like a wolf spider living inside the lip of my casement window where the window closes. There must be enough room because when I open the window she comes out, says hi and when I close it, she goes back in. It has been so cold so I won't open it to expose her to the wind and the cold but it has me thinking, I must be losing heat through that area for her to be able to take up residency there for months and still be alive. Amazing! Ask me how I know it's a female! Another story. Right near where she is now, I found her over her nest of eggs on the underside of a tarp that I had on my cat's heated house. I had to turn the tarp over to the side that was less worn to make it through another winter and there she was. Unfortunately, She had to move because I did that so her eggs probably died by now but I saw her scamper off towards the window that I found her living in just a couple of days later. She is a beautiful, large specimen of spider for sure. I hope she makes it so she can chomp on the ants that want to come in the house in the spring. They are relentless. 🙄

@@JanColdwater I also try to get them into a glass and then put the paper under it and put them outside. The more you learn about spiders the less scary they are. Like most people I hate them in the house, but I also hate to just kill them unless it's a black widow, brown recluse or yellow sac, those I kill because they are not something I need breeding near my house. :D

Once a year I spray with Bayer 12 month insect spray. No spiders or any other bug lives here. And this product can be used indoors and outdoors. I apply it just like a pest control person would ... where the walls meet the floor and around the door thresholds that open to the outside.

In bathrooms they can come in through your ventilation fans. Make sure yours has some kind of screen or filter.

I've been using this for awhile now and it seems to work but only for so long. And I'm finding them in my bathtub.. I need like a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff. One bottle only last like one spray around my house (baseboards, doors, windows, etc.). With Autumn here; guess I need to make two spray bottles at a time so I don't run out and can spray about once a week.

So rn I am living in a townhome that is molding,filled with bugs, and stinks and i am terrified of spiders, I dropped something behind my bed the other day and I looked then there was this huge spider and in the end I stood on the dresser while me sister tried to kill it and now we don’t know where it went and now I am temporarily sleeping on the couch
