the one with the large plastic bead has a smaller bead under the blade and this one actually ran the best which surprised me but i think it is because the blade is pierced a nearer the middle. I looked up Moerrum spinners which i have never seen before and i really like the idea and may give it a go but i think you are right the tip angle of blade is probably quite important. Thanks for stopping by

I tie my own flies, but this is super cool. Very easy to accomplish with common toolbox tools. Love it.

Interesting when you take the bear off the edge. :) A great presentation for using household items!

I think it has to do with weight, copper and brass are a lot heavier than aluminium and produce a throb. I wanted to use aluminium from a can for these lures but i found even the thicker bottom of the can didn't produce enough of a vibration. Aluminium works great for buzz blades because its fixed in the spinning position and the shape of the blade produces the vibration. Another material i experimented with was plastic but again it had no weight. As for flash aluminium is a great. cheers

I went out to try them today against spinners with a clevis, they produced more of a throb than the type with a clevis but it wasn't day for catching fish. I caught a small pike on a wobbler and spent the rest of the afternoon dragging weed. I used these a few years ago on small streams for trout and they worked very well but i am not sure about pike.

Evan, this is what I used today after we fished your dock. I used a penny for the spinner

Out of all your videos this is the one i would love you to revisit and to make a series of them, the blades in the Uk are very expensive and learning how to home make them would be ideal

it would be nice to come back to these, oddly after i used these for a while i found some did not spin as well as others and needed a little tweaking, but someone gave me some mepps spinners and to be honest they were not any better than the ones i had made at spinning, which was surprising and i thought it would make an interesting comparison .

Probably alter the blade design a bit by kinking off the upper tip of the blade with the hole for about 45° to 60° , this way you'd achieve a better bearing surface against the upper bead , .......also a smaller metal bead instead of these plastic ones would cause less friction and help the blade to revolve better . Google term "Moerrum Spinnaren" to look for a picture of these famous Swedish weight-forward spinners , then you'd see , what I mean . Cheers , Dieter

Brilliant as usual......you`re a genius. It`s also good that you`ve taken time out to experiment with different blade materials. What have you caught with them ???

Nice, how did it run, have you tryed fishing yet? I bought a couple of dexter wedges and would like to know how to make a good spinner as I thought they were expensive as I have to add shipping to Spain always, I'm going to have a go making my own spinner next time.

No clevis used. Are the blades really going to swing 360 degrees?
@61diemai12 жыл бұрын
I like the simplicity of these spinners , .......but without a clevis the blades won't spin at sucha high frequency , I reckon . Have you caught with these before('cos that's all that counts) ? Welldone , ....cheers , 61diemai

HI, LOVE YOUR VIDEOS I'VE MADE A BLADE OUT OF REDBULL CAN AND USED COPPER WIRE TO MAKE THE CLEVIS, THE Q. IS SOME BLADES MAKE SOUND (VIBRATION) AND SOME VISUAL(FLASH) I'M GUESSING THE THE CAN WOULD MAKE THE VISUAL EFFECT RATHER THEN THE SOUND AM I RIGHT? WHAT DO YOU THINK? THNK YOU!
