That's so sweet. Your grandchildren are always going to remember that. If they're not your grandkids it doesn't matter. They're going to love it. Those memories will stick in their head.

This is my first time seeing stone soup being made. Brings back a lot of memories of when my teacher read the story to us. Those children look like they're enjoying the cooking session. Thanks for the upload! 😍

Thank you Sarah for this wonderful stone soup recipe. I made it with my 5-year-old daughter today and it came out so well. We loved it, and this got her to eat all her veggies. =) She also used the crinkle cutter that I ordered from Bella Luna Toys to help with the chopping. I loved your songs too. Thank you for sharing.

Sarah, I could watch you talk about ANYTHING! Your calm and soothing manner is just amazing. We don't have any Waldorf opportunities in my area, but I'm absolutely fascinated by it. I'm close to graduating with my M.Ed. and will be incorporating many of your ideas in my own classroom and have already done so with my own children. Thank you! I love your videos! :)

What stones are safe for stone soup? I know some minerals in stones could be toxic but the idea of stone soup is so charming.

I remember when I was in 1st grade, I had a teacher read the book for us then make the soup. The kid next to me got the stone! Lol ❤ Good memories.

When I was married to my second wife we had 4 children between us and I bought them all a horse and we went riding every weekend and camped out and there favorite thing was to make rock soup and I thought them all the wild plants they could use and we had a rock the size of a hard ball and it was round and it was granet and I learned from my grand mother kinda a survival techneck and they loved it I used clover and bracen fern and a few other edable weeds and some inner bark from maples and popple trees ,this was in northern Minn .and they still ask my to make the soup When we get together very enjoyable !!!

When I was in kindergaten, I remember thinking stone soup sounded delicious! At least you actually used a stone. lol check out others who claim 'stone soup, but used no stones. btw i think you shouldn't ignore a child asking a question. How are they to learn?
@raymondbickham78614 жыл бұрын
Lots of people don't understand that when you use a granet so one for your soup it has pores and when heated it releases minerals and when you take it out it captures some of the flavours of the soup yogurt cooking and when you use it again it brings some of the flavours from the soup it was used go or last time ,,,I always put mine in its own sock I made for it so it didn't get dusty ,I started making rock soup When I was 11 and been making it eversence and I'm now 80 ,it's been good to me !!!
@Berrith3 жыл бұрын
I heard the story when I was 18. My MIL told it to me as she made the soup. She always used a ham hock, rutabagas, and cabbage among other things.
@phly0075 жыл бұрын
Just a friendly tip, pour water little by little so the temperature of the pot doesn’t drop. Plus you can use volcanic rock, it adds a better flavor.
@SimpleLife3335 жыл бұрын

I thought they heated the rock up super hot then put it in the water or stock to cook it since they couldn't have metal pans to cook over fore
@raymondbickham78614 жыл бұрын
The stone has pores and when heated in the hot water the pores open and release minerals and when you take it out it captures some of the flavors so the more you use it the better it becomes. I've had my stone for about71 yrs and still use it and it works wonderful !!!

I’m 6 years late, but if you ever see this comment I have a question. Did you ever have vegetarian or vegan children in your classroom? What would you do when you’d all make recipes together and they couldn’t eat it?
