I make dual lye shave soap. Im excited to see this video!! Tip #1 - add NAOH first. Then add KOH slowly. KOH sounds like a volcano. Tip #2 - wear a mask when measuring KOH. The powder will beat up your lungs. I cook my dual lye soap in crock pots.

I think you're talking about the tussah silk fibers? They melt in hot lye solution and make the lather very silky

Hi Ellen, would bentonite clay work here to add? I need to use mine and wonder whether you would recommend. Looks beautiful!

Hi can you explain to me what you mean by 10% oil volume ? Sorry I’m new to soap making and trying to learn 🥰
@EllenRuthSoap
@EllenRuthSoap 2 жыл бұрын
You add up all the oils for a total volume, then can add up to 10% glycerin on that number.

Looks luxurious! I bought black ramekins to go with my black handle boar bristle shave brushes:) I was thinking of doing a hot process soap and adding the bentonite Clay. I’d love to try this but I don’t have time to order the potassium hydroxide. There’s a recipe that uses soy wax, I’d love to try that as well!

@@sherrymartindale8582 dont use soywax....there are too many additives in soywax...soywax has been mostly engineered for candles...unless you get a soywax that is made for cosmetic use (which is scarce.) also leave out the clay....clay dulls a razor blade and does nothing for a shave soap except build up under the blade(s)
