The true castile soap was made in Spain in the Castile region roughly translated to "the land of castles" 😊 the french people later on developed the Marseilles soap with 72% olive oil, also a wonderful soap 🤔😊🙏

You go ahead and call your beautiful soap anything you want! I believe you've earned that right🫧🩷🫧 and bottom line, your soap your choice❤ My daughter and I have tried new soaping techniques, packaging suggestions, and tools because of you! We are in the business of making and selling quality handcrafted soaps and your willingness to kindly and generously share is greatly appreciated. We recently made our very first rendition of "castile" soap. Does it have 100% olive oil? Nope but you better believe we're working "castile" somewhere into our bar's name 😅 Thank you so much, Ellen❤

I tried this recipe it turned out stiff. I was able to heat the lotion and add more water and oils to get the percentages to the correct range and achieved the consistency wanted. Think the emulsifying wax should be .4 oz. Once corrected this is a very lovely lotion. Thank you for the recipe 🥰

I used black soap growing up, but cannot use it on my face. My face has eczema and burns easily. In my skincare business, I was trying to figure out how I could make something with black soap that even people with sensitive skin can use it ... this excited me! I am going to try it at 10% and add a combination of turmeric, kaolin clay, and oatmeal with manuka honey. I'm excited to experiment with it and see ... if my face can take it, I know it's a WINNER! Ellen, thank you for always having amazing content. I enjoy watching your videos even while I work.

I am so enjoying all of your videos! I too have been using some high oleic sunflower oil in my soaps in place of olive. I had a great source but it seems to have gone away. I was excited to see your large container of sunflower oil, but when I click on the link it takes me to a small container of safflower oil. Any idea where I can find the jug that you use? Thanks for your help, and keep up with the great videos!

If you're interested to try soaps from around the world, I suggest you to try "sabun lerak" aka soapberry soap from my country Indonesia, it's a gentle detergents because the berries produced natural foam when rubbed with water making them a sustainable and chemical free soap. But you can always add your twist 😊

Great video Ellen. I just started lowering my olive oil by half and replacing the other half with sunflower oil to help bring down the cost of my soaps. Thanks for the tip on the mooncake press. I immediately ordered one on Amazon after just watching your video. 😆 I was able to find a press with a flower icon that I use in my business so these soaps will be on brand. I love the idea of adding these mini soaps as extras to sell at markets. I will definitely be doing that. Thanks again!!

Hello!! I'm new to emulsifying waxes and preservatives and previously made a magnesium lotion but without an emulsifying wax, after some time my lotion would sweat and became grainy, so I'm glad I found your recipe!! Can you help me understand how to make this lotion thinner so it could go in a bump bottle? I just like to stay away from sticking my hands in jars often lol I appreciate your efforts and this amazing video!!!

You could increase the water phase. I suggest playing with small test batches to see what you like.
