It's back up!
READ THIS BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!
you can buy the fake hair here (called kanekalon) www.doctoredlocks.com/store/kk...
amazon also has it www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/...
for longer haired people you probably want to do dread falls
go here for how to put those in ikickshins.net/instructions.html
Before asking me a question I'd appreciate if you looked through this site a little www.angrycaninelovestick.org/
It answers most questions that I don't address here
If your question is a "if I do this minor variation to your directions will it still work?" type, chances are I won't answer because I have never have tried this specific variation and my answer is that you should try and see what happens. If it works post a video response about it.
I don't know answers to location specific questions unless that location is Boston or NYC. So, no I don't know if place selling hair online ships to your country you should ask them, not me. And no I don't know where to buy it in *where you live*. The best advice I can give if you don't want to go online to buy it is look in a beauty supply store.
I have no way of knowing how many dreads a package of kanekalon will make because a "dread" is not a unit of measurement. It depends on how thick they are and how long they are. There's no way for me to answer this question. I also don't know many many dreads it'll take to do a whole head of hair. How dense do you want the dreads to be? How think is your hair? How thick are the dreads? Too many variables.
There have been some language barrier issues with this so I'll clarify. Yes the water is hot. Boiling water is by definition hot.

I can't tell you how grateful I am for showing us how to make our own dreads. Like 5 years ago I bought a cute short pair for like $40 and now I see everywhere people want like 90+ dollars for one short pair!! So yeah I'm a pretty creative person and I think my money would be better spent making my own stuff, since I usually make most of my own accessories anyway lol. Anyway, just wanted to say ty ty ty!!!

Ya know, I never knew that making the synthetic dreads was so labor intensive. Compliments for 1) making a very good how to video 2) showing me how those funky hairstyles come about and 3) being a very good teacher. Also, I am glad you are sprared the G train, never an enjoyable ride.

This tut is SO great! I can't wait to get home after exams and try this! I just asked my friend for a few bags of synthetic hair for X-Mas (and he called me crazy white girl). I think I am going to make some and loop them onto an ouchless elastic so that I can take them in and out more easily and not worry about washing them as often. I'll come back and let you know how that goes. Again, THANK YOU for this awesome vid!

I used your method when i made my first set of synthetic, and i loved them so much ive decided that im going to actually dread my hair... i know i know its really different, but i found that the string on the chair it gave a lot and and made my loops big, so i took an old amp cord from my Strat that i no longer needed and modified it a bit, it comes out to the perfect size! - but i wanted to thank you for the video! it was really helpful

SUPER CRAZY HELPFUL! I have asked and asked about falls, because I know NOTHING...And all everyone ever said was "just make 'em." Okay, how do I do that? Also, I didn't know how to put them in. No one provided me with a solid answer until you. thanks for doing this. I do appreciate the effort involved in both the video and the links provided. thank you.

Hey, gr8 vid! I've always wanted to know about fake dreads, but was too frightend to ask. But now I know! Also, as a *Bald Person*, I think finding out about different cultures and sub-cultures is very rewarding and it makes me a more well-balanced and understanding person. Long may this video remain on KZbin!

Thank you so much for sch an informative vid. I had no idea about kanekalon & how cheap it is, checked it out & they sell it here also in Australia at the goth/punk shops & other stores, I always saw the most expensive hair extensions in the windows so I just didn't bother, but now that I know of kanekalon & realize they sell it everywhere I'll be getting some tomorrow & coming back to this vid. You're great! Thanks again for your time in showing us all this... :0)

An annotation you could add is that you can steam the dreads using a coffee maker... what you do is you open the top of the coffee maker (I wore leather gloves and a long sleeved shirt to avoid steam burns) and twisted the dread tightly , and closed the lid on the dread to seal it. it takes a few tries to get the dread to seal evenly when you first start out, but it works really well!

Thanks this taught me some new ways:) also if ur wondering about the hair straighter instead of boiling It's actually "steaming" ur hair all u do is have a: spray bottle, really thin cloth, hair flat iron; So what u do is put ur dread into the cloth spray the whole cloth until soaking wet. Then just straighten it like 5 time . Just another way:)

yea thanks. i've bought a few of those hair packages, knowing synth dreads were made from them but not quite figuring out how.. i've also shopped online for synth dreads, seeing tripple-digit numbers and knowing FULL WELL one package of this hair costs less than 5 bucks, so even after doubling that plus labor, anything more than 50 for a set of 10 all-one-color is beyond rediculous... thanks for saving me from getting screwed! :-)

I'm having dreads put in just before the summer, and I didn't know whether to buy skinny, DEs or make my own, and considering you did all that and it looked awesome, i'm considering making my own to install. I was also wondering if I could intall them, i have overgrown layered hair, and i was all "wtf, don't see this working for me" but you just installed that fine with your small fringe, so i guess there's hope! Cheers (Y) i've added this to my faves :)

@mackerz16 I have done it with one, but I can't promise that it would work for all wigs. Also for contrast I recommend adding in some kanekalon to the wig. This will also help with avoiding the awkward gaps that will appear when you start sectioning the wig's hair.
