How to make Teneriffe lace edges and corners (using our unique border and corner lace looms)

As a request, this video shows how to use the Teneriffe lace border and corner looms from Gina-B Silkworks.

By using the basic techniques of Teneriffe lace, the looms can be used to create continuous straight lengths of lace for trimming edgings, and the corner loom enables you to create a right angled corner in the straight pieces of lace - perfect for tablecloths for instance.
In this film, I am using the straight set, and also refer to the vandyke set. I am also using a cotton perle thread (No 8 for the finer example, and No 5 for the thicker).
A bit of trivia - Teneriffe is usually spelt with a double "f" (not the modern "Tenerife" when referring to the lace, a throwback to the old spelling.

Interesting. I've seen that kind of lace before and I can see how making it by hand was labor intensive, but an easy pattern. Thanks for showing us how to use your lace loom.

This Is an early form of embroider called Drawn Thread Work used to decorate hems, cuffs ect. Of garment back in the 11, 12 or 13 centuries, i forget which but it was long before Spanish Black Work and all others forms of decoration that where popular in later eras. The circular embroideries known as clocks came into being as a means to fill the gaps formed when a vertical line of draw thread met a vertical line of the same. As time when on and the areas of drawn thread evolved and became wider it became essential that the enpty corners should be filled for moderty with the clothing and im sure warmth for the wearer in those drafty castles in the mini ice age that ended during the tudor period and before window glass.

Yes, Teneriffe Lace does has it's origins in drawn threadwork. It eventually became its own type of lace, as did so many others.

Hi I discovered this yesterday on hochanda. Found your video on you tube. But can't make out what the finished product will look like. Could you please show me what the finished straight edge lace will look like, thank you. Hochanda had finished products on cards but the wasn't one of them. Thank you it would be much appreciated 😊
