Excellent job of teaching quilters how important it is to cut, pin, and sew accurately. I’ve been quilting since 1974 and have only heard one other person explain “where” to put your pins so the seams don’t move when sewing. I open my seams and pin this way and have accurate size blocks. No trimming needed. Good job!

Thank you Tammy! I so appreciate your teaching about all the pinning to help us produce more exact results. BUT, would you PLEASE make a video with that degree of detail for the sashing?!? This is always the area where I struggle. Even when my blocks measure a perfect 12.5 x 12.5, I always struggle with getting the cornerstones to match up in the right places. I’ve gotten to where I avoid all quilts with sashing and cornerstones. I’d soooo appreciate your level of detail when completing that next step! I’d bet I’m not the only new quilter that struggles with sashing and cornerstones…🤔

@ShabbyFabrics

Hi Chey - These are considered "leaders and enders". They're just scraps we use/reuse to start and end our sewing so that we're not getting our threads tangled. Hope this makes sense :) -Michelle

What is the blue piece that you have under the needle before and after you sew the seam?
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics Жыл бұрын
Hi Mary - These pieces of fabrics would be considered “leaders and enders”. Using a scrap piece of fabric at the beginning and end of your sewing allows for something to be underneath of your machine’s foot, and helps eliminate long tangled threads. It’s not necessary to do this. Hope this helps :) -Michelle
