I‘ve searched a lot for tutorials about making dark techno kicks/rumbles, and I can confirm that this one is the best out there. Most people don‘t know what they‘re talking about and their kicks sound like shit. You definitely know what‘s going on, good job!

I've been searching and studying about rumble and Techno's hard kicks for a long time, but I finally found what I was looking for: a Rumble made from nothing that doesn't sound muddy and strange while mastered. Thank you so much. Subscribing!

I noticed the other day that with the amp if you turn the volume control down on the amp between about 5.8 and 6.8 you get a much different sound, the distortion character is different. Kind of counter intuitive but gives a nice sound especially when used before or after reverb in this kick rumble context. Also if using reverb instead of delay setting the predelay on reverb to around 220ish (actual value depends on bpm - 60000/bpm*2) you get an offbeat delayed reverb effect.This works well if done in parallel with delay i.e Dry Kick, Kick with delay, Kick with reverb. You can then add different distortion fx on each before mixing back together. I just gave away my secret!!! :-0 lol

I wish people would at do a little more on the kick sample part, where to look for good ones and stuff, since it's so important, but even in an otherwise very good tutorial like this they literally spend like 5 seconds on the kick sample as if everyone just has hundreds of quality kick samples at their disposal.

How to make hardest rides, hats and crash cymbals. Nono... Not white noise only. It's more than that.
@OppenMinerDev5 жыл бұрын
For my hats I usually use a very short 909 ride just for the attack and then a matching shaker to give it more body. Live 10 has enough of them. Also add some tambourine with a low cut to give it some ring if you like. Adjust volume on all samples until you like it. Glue all sounds together using a slight compressor and use saturation to fatten it up!

you ever put your kicks in mono?
@oudoilleoville5 жыл бұрын
I could make kicks sound amazing with the help of this tutorial. Then I tried to make low frequencies mono with Fabfilter Pro-Q's mid/side eqing, but the kicks became quite lame compared to the stereo reverb rumble on low bass frequencies (listened with headphones). I'm not quite sure at which frequency to make them mono. I tried different freqs around 150 Hz but maybe that was too high? I'm still puzzled about this monoing, especially in this music style. That would make a great theme for a tutorial?
@OppenMinerDev5 жыл бұрын
I usually do 100-120hz. If you master for vinyl bass frequencies become mono anyways!

Nice kick but why dont you cut the high frequencies? no need of them in a kick.
@colinlamb3154 жыл бұрын
Nearly ever kick has high frequencies. That's what allows it to cut through the other high frequencies and stops it from sounding muffled and low

@ownedbymykitty2704 жыл бұрын
Good stuff, but I think you're overdoing it man. If you're using more than 2 instances of either EQ or compression and more than 2 saturators / distortion then adding a limiter and another EQ and an amp sim on top of everything, it's just way too much.
@koncreteto27583 жыл бұрын
goodluck mixing all that low end content with a sub.....
