This is probably my favorite The Mandalorian helmet that I've seen so far!!! The weathering is fantastic, I usually see some that come out kinda..painty-ish looking..but yours look like legit weathering!!! This is awesome!

Wood filler tip is CLUTCH. I'm Canadian and it's way too cold in the winter months to be able to do effective priming outside...been struggling to figure out what to do about it and now I know: wood filler is the answer! Thank you!!

I had a couple helmets come out with the same texture on the surface. if you add another wall layer to your print settings it will come out smoother. also filler primer will help with filling in print lines so you have less work by hand. good video. thanks

I figured as much. I’m constantly messing around with settings depending on the job; I must have not set it back to being thicker. It didn’t bother me enough to reprint the pieces though. I’ll definitely have to try some of that primer. Thanks for mentioning it!

Nice job! When I have the extra funds, I'm definitely printing one for myself. One thing, for both you and Rob Pauza, to consider is increasing the wall thickness on the dome. The infill lines caught my attention, especially after the shine of the Rub-n-Buff. But, in spite of that, kudos on a great build and thanks for the inspiration (and link) to build one of my own. :)

The first paint you used is a colored transparent type. It's for tinting rather than coloring. It would add depth to another shade of silver. Over all the helmet looks awesome!

You probably already know these tips but someone may find it useful, when priming try a filler primer, when painting metallic prime then spray with a gloss black it makes such a difference, for chrome paint there is a graffiti product called molotow liquid chrome which you can buy in refill bottles and put through an airbrush then seal

You should print a support bracket to sit across the chin inside the helmet just behind the lense, will give it rigidity and strength and even create an opportunity to add a voice changer( if you chose to) to get that radio voice he kind of has. Lol well done !!

hi, i see the helmet has an icecream cone patern to it thats the infill showing through, you need to add more walls to the print, and print the walls first before the infill, jack

You should look into pcl primer. Its basically spray on bondo its amazing, we use it in my design class to give all our projects basically a plastic coating.

Great tutorial!!, What profile you used to print? standard? rough? high? for example how much time take you to print front side bottom L or R? wich should be the same I just started mine and I want to know if I am going the right way, I can see on yours that some zig zag pattern is shown very slightly and on mine does not. If you angle the top helmet plates at a 35 - 45 degree angle you will cut down dramatically on the supports needed/material used - and you get the same quality on the top and inside.

This is probably the closest I’ve seen, all the others on KZbin make the helmet too long or too short and they don’t realize that offsets the overall look. Very impressive though, you got my like.

Hard out, the only thing I thought was "off" (Still looks amazing) was the width of the visor going down I believe in the disney+ version it becomes thinner as it goes down. Another good video if you like accuracy is "TheWeldingGeek" He made the new disney+ Helm out of metal and it looks so good. He's a relatively new channel. Something that I don’t notice until after I finished mine (so it’s not mentioned in the video) is the slat pieces on the back are slightly curved. The pictures of the ANOVOS helmet are great for reference.

Next time if you have more time , sanding the plastic will give it a smoother final look when you go to paint it. Like using 180 grit or finer

I also found that the Rustoleum Dark Steel paint is the closest looking finish without going the graphite or Alclad chrome route.

Wish I knew wood filler would work... Glad I do now though thanks :) In canada been making a Boba Fett helmet since March and now it's too cold outside and bondo is well like you said not good for indoors, The mixing and setup time of the bondo is my least favorite part of the entire build. lol I can't wait for it to try so I can work on it but by the time it dries I've lost the desire to go work on it and going back to it becomes a chore. Gonna be picking up some wood filler and my helmet has hope of being completed :D

I could not find the Hobart replacement face shield for my helmet so I went to Office Max and bought one of the clear sheets of plastic and put black window tint on it. Works really well, you just have to watch out for air bubbles.

if you want a super strong bond for glue, you should use DevCon. You should have a respirator or a VERY good ventilated area, but DevCon is the best on the market. Kinda expensive but worth it!

Where can I find that material you used for the visor and how much does it cost? I have a custom Mandalorian helmet I made a couple years ago and the visor I have it in currently isn't the best. It works, but it's not like what you used at all. What you used it far batter and isn't cheap, thin dark plastic (I used a transparent black folder separator I got in school materials at Wal-Mart. It's all I could find that did the trick, but after a few years and use, it's kinda getting harder to see clearly through it. I could really use a material meant to be used for a visor.)

Awesome video, I'm new to 3d printing just pick up a creality cr-10s printer. Just wanted to know would it be ok to use a raspberry pi ardwino to read the files you are print. If not what do you recommend?

Really enjoyed this video, one remark that I have is that maybe you should make some additional interior of the helmet so that it is more comfortable to wear and how is the breathing going of the person who wears it? Otherwise from the outside looks wonderful!!!
