In this week's episode Phil and Courtney make the Perfect Brined Turkey! This recipe has been perfected over many years for a juicy, flavorful turkey and the best gravy you have ever tasted.
If you use this basic recipe, you can add more lemon, garlic, spices, and make it your own! The key to this recipe is to get the brine ice-cold and leave the turkey in the brine for at least 12 hours, but over 24 hours is best. Enjoy!
Add all the ingredients to a large pot and boil for 5 minutes. Cool in the fridge overnight or in an ice bath until cold. Rinse your turkey and place it in the brine. Let the turkey brine in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours.
When it is done brining, pull the turkey from the brine and rinse thoroughly. Place the turkey on a pan in the fridge for 3 - 12 hours.
Slather the skin with butter and roast at 350 degrees until the internal temperature is 165 degrees.
The List:
1 Gallon of Water
1 Cup Kosher Salt
1/4 Cup Honey
1 Bunch of Parsley
4 Bay Leaves
1 Small Bunch of Fresh Thyme
2 Heads of Garlic
2 Onions Sliced
3 Tbsp Black Peppercorns

do you add salt again before cooking it or only salt form brine is enough?

Salt from the brine is enough. I salted the skin a little, but it is really not necessary.

Do you use your coffee grinder?

It is a coffee grinder, but we use that one just for grinding spices.
