To me there isn’t a big enough difference until you get into the politics of it. I just love our Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I just love God. If you see needing to help and guide me. The explanation of what touching the forehead and the chest/stomach/heart area made sense. But there didn't seem to be an explanation as to why the shoulders were touched, other than the unspoken idea that it completed the picture of a crucifix. But it could just as well have been touching the armpits or tapping the tops of the shoulders, and those ways would also have made the basic outline of the cross. Maybe shoulders have a double meaning that I've never heard?

It really doesn’t matter, right to left-Eastern Orthodox, or left to right-Catholic, or Oriental Orthodox sign themselves left-to-right, but with varying hand postures. Don’t read too much into it. As long as you do it is what counts. Obviously, what ever church you belong to, you will probably do it their way.

Greetings, as an orthodox Christian , I feel the need to comment. If you study old rite orthodoxy and follow old transcripts from the early saints of the church up to Constantine, you’ll find the old rite making of the cross and even it’s explanation and meaning will have you in aww. If you are interested I would love to explain it and how we were taught by the Russian orthodox elders who fled from Russia after the Bolshevik revolution.
