Audeze (pronounced "odyssey") was founded out of a garage in 2008, after its founders came across a revolutionary flexible circuit material that had originally been developed for NASA. Realizing it's potential in planar magnetic technology, they began designing a new line of speakers and headphones. Their original model, the LCD-1 was a huge hit at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, and launched the company in earnest - with a name inspired by the film 2001: A Space Odyssey

To make this 20x easier to get the pads on, tuck the black strip of the pads in just behind the 4 (2 top 2 bottom) green/blue depending on your pair circles on the backside. piece of cake. took a minute after having some difficulty to realize this is what was causing them from snapping on properly. @@JeffreySmiles_ yeah i love mine as well but, deff can feel the pressure and its a bitt much considering the drivers are also extremely sensitive to pressure. For anyone considering doing this, I just wanted to caution that this isn't necessarily an upgrade in comfort for all head shapes. For me, the stock earcups had immediately noticeable clamping pressure, but after an extended session (3+ hours) my main pressure point was actually on the top of my head. I decided to try these due to the overwhelmingly positive comments section, but in my case, it's seems to have made things a little worse. Due to the difference in size of the ear pads they don't seem to properly distribute the pressure around my ears anymore, instead the pressure is more focused near the top of the band, which makes the top of my head start hurting much sooner. I did order an additional pad for the top, so hopefully that will help, but heads up this isn't a 1 size fits all solution. Thanks for the instructions though; it seems like this worked well for a lot of people! Unfortunately, unless they work well with the top pad I ordered, I think I'll need to switch back to stock pads.

Great video. I have had the Gel pads for a few weeks now. I love them as compared to stock they are a ton better. Plenty wide and deep and they lock in the sound. The only problem I have had with them is the seam between the pleather and sports material. The ends of my glasses get caught on it when I put my glasses on. I just readjust my headset, but a minor inconvenience for my style of frames that caused me to not immediately purchase a second set. If you don't wear glasses you will probably love them completely. Man, thanks for that. I ordered WC and followed your tutorial. At first I thought the difference was not that big, but with each passing hour this becomes a heaven’s sent. The comfort. And the sound signature somehow seems superior to the original pads. Not to mention velour finish on the face-touching part makes all the difference. The original material has a tendency to transfer all head moving noises, like scratching beard stubs. Also the original sticks to the skin and causes pressure changes when taken off without caution - which is bad for the diaphragm (Audeze even attached a warning about this to my headset). With these velour pads I can take them on and off without any special moves to prevent those pressure changes :) Audeze should incorporate ear pads like these as an option, at least.

I picked these up for my Mobius. They feel great once they get on there but I had to snip a lot more off than shown in this video because it took a long time to get the plastic to clip back onto the headset and it was quite a battle to get it to stay on there. So while I think it feels great (I got the cooling gel) I can't fully recommend this because it doesn't work with it perfectly well. It is a an improvement on the feel and look of the headset, though.
@jasongress37383 жыл бұрын
I did the same, and my results are similar. Honestly this works... but the pads are permanently pretty much tied to these headphones; don't expect them to work with other things.
@PhoggHawk3 жыл бұрын
@@jasongress3738 yeah the battle getting them on there is not worth taking them off to try on something else. All that said, last couple of days I've been wearing my Mobius and I must say for the first time I have been able to wear them for longer periods and not notice them. So, once the struggle to get them to snap on there is over (and hopefully you haven't destroyed the pads too much in the process), they are "Stinkin Cozy" and well worth the effort, IMO.

@KenshiI didn't notice much of a sound signature change as a result of the new pads.
@CC-il7dg2 жыл бұрын
The installation was much harder for me than what we see in this video. Took me an hour or so to figure out that I needed to make much bigger cutouts on the pads to allow the plate to cleanly click back onto the headphones. Frustrating but they definitely feel and look great.

very cool tip ! Now îm a bit confused thought…. I was planning to get the arctis pro, but changed my mind for the viruoso xt after your review…. Should i change my mind to the penroze with the cushions then ? Or should I keep the virtuoso xt in line ? Is the penroze really is better in sound in wireless mode ?

I use Wicked Cushions on my Arctis Pro Wireless, and they are such a darn improvement. Tbh, I've been swapping back and forth, between that and the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT, while on PS5, and I honestly feel the APW sounds better. After the latest firmware, to the APW transmission box, those cups are louder and punchier, especially with the new cushions. I'm really hoping the CVRGB gets a similar update or the ability to be EQ'd for consoles, because atm, they sound good but the APW still sound great.

I just received my HyperX Orbit S today and WOW I'm literally blown away by these Audeze drivers... I connect via USB-C directly into my PS5 and turn charging off (so I don't burn the battery out) and dude this is on another level! Saw your video yesterday and I literally went on amazon and discovered this model and couldn't be happier seriously... The 3D Audio and sound quality is not comparable to any pair of headset I've owned before (Astro A40 with mixamp pro/A50, Razer BlackShark V2 and JBL Quantum 800's) Wanted to take the time to thank you Techne 🤝🥰 A long time fan 😎
