I wd cut my squares for the star legs at 18”; then sew 1/4” on BOTH sides of the line (instead of ON the line). Then you’ll need a lot less fat quarters bc you’ll get 2 star legs from each fat qtr. you’ll still be able to get a 3” strip from each fat qtr; and can add a little from the backing to finish out the borders. Also, buy a little extra backing and you can make the binding from that. If you’re using directional fabric, you can use the other triangle on the bottom of the star and it should still be right side up. You’ll also need less background fabric bc you won’t be wasting all those leftover triangles. 😊

Ohhh fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing. The Tim Holtz fabrics are stunning, but I know to buy them in Northern Ireland here they are pretty expensive. So whatever we can do to save on fabric is a must. Thanks for sharing these great tips. Lee :)

@CraftyLoops this is exquisite, but I can rarely afford to make a whole quilt from the expensive fabrics, so I use them as focal points only. I use good quality but less expensive background fabrics.

Love the pattern and fabrics. But, I would make 2 hst instead of having the waste and maybe make 2 projects! Yes, I know some of the “waste” is used for the border. This is a nice easy and fast project for a busy time of year. Thank you!

It would be stunning in Christmas fabric

I totally would make 2 at once, slightly smaller but worth it, then purchase extra fabric for borders or use the rest of the fat quarters in a 20 FQ bundle for the border? Lots of possibilities! Love free patterns! Beautiful quilt! Thanks for sharing!

Me, too!! Making the 2 HSTs I mean.
@julieedgecombe6087Күн бұрын
@@pamdavis1613 I was thinking the same thing about the waste. If you bump up your squares to 18” you would get the 17” HST. If you are using FQ’s you have the space.
@pamdavis1613Күн бұрын
@@julieedgecombe6087 exactly, but I tend to make throws less than 70” if I can, 17” blocks work also!

I fell asleep watching KZbin on TV and awoke in the middle of the night to this video launch . Loved the quilt immediately as is . Love the pink, mauve, taupes in the artsy fabrics and love the scrappy boarder . Gives it a boho vibe . I luckily was able to get all the fabrics listed in the pattern. Glad MSQC had the Tim Holtz fabric bundles left and the free pattern is easy to find on the MSQC website .

I used to do that also. The last time I used an ink pen it bled through when I pressed the block. Apparently, there was a spot of ink on the cut edge.😢
