How To Make Trackmaster Jinty

Hey guys! So yeah it’s been a while. I do hope you guys enjoyed this video, I have more like this on the way.
There was a ton of lost footage from this video. The part of me cutting the side tanks was filmed 2 years ago plus I had to move footage across 4 separate phones so yeah stuff gets lost.
I can’t tell you guys in full detail of every step, I just show the big ideas and get the point across.
Obviously there are many ways to make this custom, I just like to show my own methods to you guys. Do what best works for you, everything I have may not be available to you, and honestly there’s just better ways to do it.
I get a lot of people asking how to do things with their customs. Not that there’s anything wrong with that (I’m quite flattered). I just think looking into products yourself is more efficient. Legit everything i learned is from youtube. I watch how other people approach the step I'm at, then I watch a lot of videos on the product or method they use. You cannot go wrong with your custom as long as you practice a lot, trial and error type shit. You gotta have patience with this stuff, trust me it's worth it in the end.

I made a custom engine called “Adam” he was made with a talking trackmaster 2 Percy face and a black James body with a black running board but I haven’t spray painted his tender yet, I am thinking of changing it with a spare Henry tender.

OK, I don't care about model railways at all, but I _do_ have a big interest in toy and model customisation & painting so I thought I'd give this video a squiz. You did a pretty good job, I'd say; though I've got a couple recommendations to use if you decide to make another! 1 - Might I suggest using styrene sheeting? Styrene's incredibly easy to work with and would only need minor seam filling as opposed to balsa which requires covering the entire piece in putty. 2 - Curve masking tape. This would make the curved lines a lot cleaner compared to the freehanded curves from the Posca markers. 3 - Using modellers paints, such as Vallejo - those make for a really good even coat of paint if you use a decent amount of either water or airbrush thinner (with some flow improver for both). If you use Tamiya acrylics, the Tamiya Paint Retarder is recommended since that's magic in a bottle for those. Thinning paints in general is very good - I can't really tell how much they were thinned in this video, but from the way it blobbed up and left a few brush marks, I feel like they could have done with a bit more water. Hope that could be of some help!

sorry I’m only just seeing this You’re very insightful and I really appreciate these other methods. I used styrene on my old shape Henry, I used balsa wood on the Jinty bc at the time I didn’t have much styrene at all. I may Invest in better paints honestly. Acrylics are easy to work with so that’s why I use them. It’s honestly worth a shot exploring other types of paint. Thanks for the comment
