A few of my discoveries: micromist spray bottle keeps certain layers wet for longer without smudging. 2 Dirty Paper towels that I used for watercolour cleanup. I iron them and use them for gelli print papers. they already have a layer of texture on them. 3 Medium makes colours transparent. 4 a square container under my desk with an inch of water is great for throwing in the stencils. You can wash them later and the paint won't dry on them.5 I have about a washing machine load of rags, nicely cut into even squares, neatly in a basket. I have a bucket under the desk and the used cloths get thrown in there while working. When I go though all the rags, I throw them all in my washing machine together, rather than risk mixing washing with my nice kitchen cloths.

Please encourage people to patronize independent art supply stores. We need to make sure those stay alive. The people who run them and work at them tend to really know their products and provide much better service than any of the big box stores or exclusively online retailers.

Just found your channel and subscribed 😀 Tip for stencil cleaning which I know sounds odd...Murphys Oil Soap Concetrate( not the premixed one) mixed with water in a spray bottle, one third to 2 thirds ish. Spray on stencil liberally, leave and BAM even thick paint layers will come off with a quick rinse. No damage to stencil. Add a squirter to your water bath, thats what I do. Happy Arting Kate in New York 🙃

I use that to clean my brayers. Just soak the roller in a container of undiluted Murphy’s. Don’t throw away the leftover soap! I just keep mine in a separate bottle and if it gets chunks of paint I just run it throw my paint strainer.

Brilliant. I love the layers, especially the interference over black, and the black, white and gold! Must start using stencils for my scratch papers that I use for cleaning off brushes so I don't waste paint! I have tried using baby oil on papers to make them translucent and that works really well, and it also doesn't smell. I haven't found any issues with glueing, as long as you buff it off really well. I also make my own microglaze from Vaseline and a little alcohol. Works a treat. Once buffed off, if you add a layer of clear gesso, you can continue to add water-based stuff to it, and nothing underneath will run.

non-bleeding tissue does not deposit color (from the paper dye). Bleeding tissue paper does. It's not a matter of which one is better, but what effect you want. Rather like granulating or nongranulating watercolor. If you place pieces of bleeding tissue (which you can just rip or cut in very specific shapes) damp on white (or light pastel) paper when you lift it will have stained the paper underneath. Interesting background effects. The tissue can then be reused as texture in collage.

Non-bleeding means the color of the paper itself will not run if you get it wet. Bleeding tissue paper is usually multicolored and is often used for a watercolor type affect as an overlay over permanent ink when you wet bleeding tissue paper, the pigment is activated and absorbed by the paper underneath the tissue.

Thank you. This was fabulous! I believe non-bleeding means that the color of the tissue paper doesn't bleed onto other things, such as fingers, clothing or parts of the substrate. That is, it holds its color. Sometimes, bleeding tissue paper is desirable, as you can lay it down, wet it and lift, to leave behind some of the color in interesting patterns.

Loved this video. Question: Have you ever taken your stencil and placed it on another sheet of tissue paper after you are done stenciling on one page and press to another tissue paper to get the opposite impression of your stencil so you can get the full use of your paint left on your stencil? @apocalypse_frau Жыл бұрын
It’s important to know what pigments are used in products, especially pinks and reds. If a product doesn’t list pigment info, I don’t buy it, unless I’ve done a lightfast test, or know someone who has published a lightfast database/test on it. Sure, we could scan our work and sell the print without that concern, but it is not equivalent to an original. 🌟

FYI, bleeding tissue paper is the kind that lose it’s colour if it becomes s wet. Of course it’s particularity is un relevant if you use white tissue paper. A fun thing to do with kids is cutting shapes in the tissue paper, place it on damp watercolour paper, spray water on it and make Shute all the tissue paper is in contact with the watercolour paper. Let everything dry and then remove the tissue paper which will have left a print of the shapes by « bleeding » it’s colour onto the watercolour paper. You can make nice abstract landscapes using this method. You can doodle over it with different pens and markers to enhance your masterpiece. 😁
