One thing i've been meaning to ask, when you set up your battles, can you only choose between side view or front view for ALL battles? or is it possible to set it so most battles are side view, but BOSS battles specifically are front view?

Action pattern 'R' rating tip is vital! Range greater than 3 NEVER occurs? That's absurd that the number are quite ambiguous: it should be based on a percentage. I wish you went into that detail for agility; is it based on a ratio or like 'R'? Example, is A:Agility 10 vs B:Agility 5 mean A always goes first or A goes first AND A goes twice as often?

It would depend on the combat system you've decided to go with. There are also several plugins out there that change how this works therefore It's kind of a blanket statement to say it will always work one way. There are several variables that go into determining how it functions. Right out of the box there is some RNG that rolls and your AGI gets thrown into the mix to determine who goes first, but most of the time the higher agility actors would go first.

I figured this out! Database > Skills. You can name and adjust existing skills there, and make new ones.

I've 2 questions: 1 - Is there any way to add an enemy progression like you do with the actors? To for instance have the same type of enemy in different levels. 2 - how do you do make your characters go the whole way across the screen and hit the enemy? My characters barely give 2 steps forward when they hit. Same goes to ranged weapons, we don't see the projectile being shot and hitting the enemy.

When the level scaling plugin gets translated to MZ by Visustella then you can do question 1. Your second question's answer is called Action Sequencing. I have a tutorial on this on my channel. Try browsing my videos or playlists.

@@DriftyG just did, thank you, that was very helpful. Next questions: 1 - How can I use actors side view as enemies? 2 - How can I make a custom battle system? The game basically offers the use of MP and TP, but what if I want something else? Like skills with cooldown instead, like in DnD. I'm trying to create an Alchemist class with the same model of Pathfinder 2e. He has let's say.. 5 points of "mana" (I really want to use something else, or at least rename that for the character) at first level. He can use this "mana" for 2 actions: Advanced Alchemy and Quick Alchemy. Advanced Alchemy can only be used out of combat and can create 2 alchemical mixtures. Quick Alchemy can only be used in battles and only create one single alchemical mixture - that disappears after the battle if not used. These mixtures can be bombs, elixirs, mutagens or poisons. Any idea on to make a class like this?

Hey i have a question, i have set up a surprise attack from an enemy when you click on a coffin, But it happens every time i click on the coffin. I literally want it to be a one off battle. Any advice?

Add a self switch to the bottom of the event page page, add a new page and set that page to have a condition of that self switch be on. So when it runs the surprise attack it switches to the next page and after that it will do nothing. (or whatever else you want it to do, like a show message that says "this is empty")

The troops part was great. I would like to know more about how to set up different conditions, and how do you get surprise and pre emptive attacks to work for enemies.

Great video! The information on Rate is important and I have seen tutorials that either skip it or actually get it wrong. Those are probably older and the creator probably learned better, but the tutorials still stay out there and can confuse people. Also the information on the battle events was good. That is something I need to experiment with a lot more. Very nice. Thanks!

On Windows: click "Edit" on the menu bar, then choose "Preferences." Look for "Theme" in the bottom-right of the window and change "Light" to "Dark." On macOS: it's the same except you need to click "RPG Maker MZ" instead of "Edit."
