My mind is blown with the windows + shift + S key shortcut, I've been using snipping tool my entire life, and this is a game changer.

This was fantastically informative! This was the first time I saw anyone go over every single text option and actually show what they do. Same for the background and window. And the Batch Entry tip was great. You also went at a great pace to follow along. Thank you so much! EDIT: Interesting that they must have added more options since you made the video. I now see 3 more that I will have to experiment with.

When it comes to RPGs, dialogue is king so this tutorial, especially the last section going over the text codes and how they could spice them up, was both kinda complicated but still super helpful! I know for sure that I'm gonna end up fussing over those.....

Another quick way to test dialog (or any other simple event) is to highlight it in the editor and press Ctrl + R. It doesn't seem to work with advanced stuff, but I found it super convenient for stuff like text so I figured I'd share! Oh, and if you want to highlight multiple instances, just hold shift and click on the last entry that you want to test.

Hi Tea, I've found that since my custom icon sheet is a bit longer than the default one, if I add an icon to the dialogue box it will appear in the preview mode, but it appears only as a number in my game when I play it. Wierd huh? But any icon I add from the top of the sheet appears in the game in the dialogue just fine.

Hmm, I know in MV the icon sheet can get pretty big and still work, hopefully that hasn't changed.

@@teasjams6895 You'll never believe this but it was simply a case of \i[2209] rather than \I[2209] . A lower case i was the whole answer! How's that for crazy? But that does fix the visustella plugin problem. Thanks for all your help and time, and your videos. I appreciate them all!

I am trying to make an opening cutscene for my game and I noticed that if I click too fast the event will stop in the wrong spot and bork the scene is there a way to prevent this? I have the event npc being followed by a transparent player to have the 'camera' follow her during the scene.

You can avoid this by making your cut scenes auto run events. It locks player inputs.

Tea's Jams I will check when I get home from work I’m pretty sure it was an autorun event but I can’t check right now as I’m at work Edit: Okay I'm home and able to check now. It is set to autorun on the event. There are several dialog boxes in the event and if you click through them too fast it causes the issue.

Cool vid, I'm also curious if there's any flexibility with the dialogue system. Like could you make a system where you are given word options and you have to select them in the right order to get a certain response from the NPC? Kinda like duolingo I was thinking.

Is there a way to show the gold window without using the text box? I have an autorun common event running as a sort of shop through an action button event, ( its a book where you can flip pages, and each page serves as an item to buy ) and i want the gold window to be visible the entire time the event is running, not only when dialogue boxes are active. with it being in the text box, it only appears when you hit enter and it asks if you want to purchase the item or not, and it goes away again. ideally people should be able to see their gold to know if they have enough without HAVING to interact with it first.
