What a great video! Thank you! I have done bootable discs before, but NEVER a thumb drive. My first attempt ruined a thumb drive and made it useless. However, Rufus is such a better program...and your walk-through made it so easy.

Before checking on mbr you should look if your partition is gpt or mbr first

Best thing wasted 4 hours to create bootable usb with old Rufus version and causing grub rescue error. After seeing your vid realised new version Rufus needed to be used in order to bypass the error.thanks a ton

Hey. As far as I know you can use any usb or dvd at this point (Rufus reads both types of devices). Just make sure those devices are within range of specifics mentioned in video (4gb of storage memory minimum).

Without Persistent partition, this USB will boot on try/install ubuntu but you can not save any changes to the USB

I'm receiving the following error: Error informing the kernel about modifications to partition /dev/nvme0n1p2 -- Device or resource busy. 'This means linux won't know about any changes you made to dev/nvme0n1p2 until you reboot -- so you shouldn't mount or use it in any way before rebooting. You know, how I can fix it? I use a Asus notebook with an external hard disk built in.

Same here. Trying to find solutions yet didn't find any. I can't say for sure but as far as I see you may not install Ubuntu on the same disk that it is using to run installation program (clearly it can't because to install Ubuntu it needs to format disk and it would lead to complete deleting of Ubuntu installerl. You may try to download Ubuntu iso on other disk in order to install it on flash disk you're usind now.
