@Creativebirdie no, I didn't dry my rose petals right and they began to mildew. Sure were smelling good to me. I don't have a mortar and pestle or coffee grinder so I need to come up with a different approach til I get one. Would I need one dedicated for crushing rose petals and a different one for spices? I'm growing a lot of herbs too.

I would never in a million years think to use my molcajete for spice grinding. I just use it either for salsa/chili's or as a fruit bowl Lol. I am going to make these beads. My mom's funeral is on Tuesday, and I will use her flowers to make beads. Do you think I could use a mix of flowers or is just roses? I guess only one way to find out huh. Thank you for this video. Very good informative video, however what I liked most... and you made me drool... was your rough antique stone mortar and pestle. I'm 66 and a master herbologist. I make a lot of creams, salves and other remedies. MY GOD WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVE FOR THAT mortar and pestle. Breathe girl, breathe. Maybe I'll try the head between the legs thing next. LOL. I made Victorian rose beads in an old iron skillet about 20 years ago. That was the trick to getting a dark red color. Hope that helps

Did you heat the finished beads in the skillet or did you stir the powdered flowers around in the skillet or? Hoping to make some before these roses die

@@GV-wv8uf I watched a short here on youtube, (found by searching "how to make rosary beads from roses") where it was the powdered petals that were put in the skillet (with water), so I think that's the correct time to do it. Haven't tried for myself yet, though, so I can't be 100% sure about the results but I recommend checking that video
