Thank you! Do you create the grid in FCP too?
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No - if you just google search for a grid, a lattice or square grid, you should have plenty to choose from! Thanks for stopping by, and subscribe for more tutorials in the future :)

Great video! I'm really excited about trying this! I've downloaded a grid, but have not been able to zoom in so it fits nicely in the screen. Please tell me how to zoom in to 600% (as you mentioned in one comment). I can't find how to do that. Or, have you made another tutorial for that? thanks for any help you can give!
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hey ! so to fit the grid onto the screen, you have to use the Scale X/Y parameters in the video settings. To zoom into the frame to line things up, there is a zoom feature over the video preview (top right) where you can select to zoom in 50 - 600% (depending on your monitor, you might not be able to zoom in beyond a certain number)

I forgot, is it just an image of a grid that you are using? Also it looks like you’ve placed the grid on the main timeline, is that right? (Forgive me, I’m very new to FCP so my terminologies may be incorrect).
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes its just a regular jpg of a grid. Place it under the videos to use it as a reference - you will only see the grid when you make videos on top opaque

This is awesome! Do you have a tutorial for this for motion so I can make it a default? I’ve been wanting to learn how to make my plug in so I do not have to do this one each time. Thank you!
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hey ! I don't use motion, but this seems like a really good idea! If I look into it, I'll be sure to make a motion tutorial :) Thanks for checking it out - hopefully more of my videos can give you some split screening ideas :)

Thank you, this looks very helpful for what I’m trying to do at the moment. I’m trying to create split screens for a group of singers. How do you get the different clips to come in and out at different times or even rearrange/transition to different positions of the screen/video?
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
Find a point in the music where you feel there should be a transition - Split all of the videos at the videos at that point by pressing cmd+shift+B and they will all split at the playhead. Hope that helps!
@Bimluva724 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for your tutorial and help. How do you then sync the clips with the audio, especially after creating compound clips or do they sync up everything first and then making the compound clip.

you say to download a grid, but nor how?? where do we download from? and how do we get it onto final cut pro?
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hey - how's it going? The grid can be downloaded from anywhere. I found this one on Google images - just search for a 'grid', 'square grid' or 'lattice'. Pick one that you like - right click on it and save it to your computer. From there, once you're in Final Cut Pro, there is an import button on the top left, where you can select the grid where you downloaded it, and it will be brought into the programme. Hope that helps.

Soooo... my issue is trying to make a good grid, like consistently. My grids have some misalignment from trying to scale it manually. Is there a precise number I can type to make it consistent
@JJRiordanMusic4 жыл бұрын
It's a tough one. What i do is zoom in to 600% and slowly crop until the video lines match the grid underneath? If that makes sense? I'll make another tutorial shoeing you what i mean soon :)
