Poppy petals are very delicate, so our wafer paper is really conducive to giving them that realistic quality. These flowers also happen to be fairly easy to make because they only have 6 petals - a perfect starting place for beginner wafer paper flower artists!

MATERIALS

+ Green, Yellow and Pink/Orange gel colors
+ Food grade glycerin amzn.to/2JIHhGk

+ Confectioners glaze amzn.to/2xKlprz
+ Semolina or corn meal
+ Yellow petal dust amzn.to/2Rhvhji or amzn.to/3aRstBh
+ Corn starch
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Gather your tools and materials. Download the flower template below.
2. Cut wafer paper according to the template using scissors or a cutting machine.
3. Mix Wafer Paper Conditioner and apply to each petal to soften.
4. Vein and shape all 6 petals. Place in a former to dry.
5. Using a small ball of gumpaste create a poppy center. Insert 22 gauge wire and use tweezers to shape the top.
6. Mix cornmeal and yellow petal dust. Apply confectioners glaze to the top of the poppy center and dip in the mixture.
7. Cut and color 2 circles of wafer paper to create stamens.
8. Apply small around of confectioners glaze to the outer edge of the circle and dip into cornmeal/petal dust mixture.
9. Attach statements to the center using wafer glue. Let dry.
10. Using wafer glue assemble the poppy flower.
*Optional:
1. Cut and color poppy leaves.
2. Attach to a long wire.
