Fantastic job! I made a water diorama using your Scotch Tape and Hot Glue trick recently, and it saved my table! I shouted you out in the video, just wanted to let you know that your work was appreciated. :)

Absolutely wonderful. Thank you for this step by step. Shall endeavor to attempt this one day in the future though I'll be using it for 28mm mini's from a different era.

this is by far the coolest base ive ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im so nervous about attempting it but if the result is anything like that my death guard are gonna look so flashy!
@RedBeardBaron5 жыл бұрын
Don’t be nervous! Resin is pretty easy to work with. Try a practice pour especially if you add ink to the resin before you try it on your models would be my only advice.

Im new to basing,modeling in general, but i do know that usually the reasoning behind the resin mix the pour into a new cup, is so any unmixed resin/hardner left stuck to the sides isn't pour into ur final project and allows for a better finish. Thus typically you don't wanna scrap the sides of the mix cup while pouring into you final pour cup.
@RedBeardBaron6 жыл бұрын
Ah, makes sense. I also think it may decrease the amount of air bubbles trapped in the resin. Tried to short cut the process in the past and had a ton of bubbles I had to pop. Thanks for watching!

Red Beard Baron thanks for the good content to watch! I'm currently working on my basic mini painting techniques but hope to eventually be able to paint/craft some pieces half as nice as what your doin my good man. Although with a family, 50-65hr work weeks (physical labor intense), D&D sessions, many other projects, and general daily chores it leaves little time to do much painting. But I still try to alot 30mins-1+hr every other day or so. I find if I have a structure that I follow (no matter how little time Im able to put in) I make more progress than painting for an entire day every couple weeks. Plus it keeps it fun. Anyways,keep up the experimenting,keep showing your ideas/results, and keep having fun!

It is the fw burnt umber ink.

Cool work man. Just a question did you try to polish resin with tamiya polishing compound instead of sanding paper? I just think it may work better? Thanks
@tomkearney2375 жыл бұрын
Hey man great video and fantastic! Mind telling me what ink you use and what varnish you used too please? Want to use something similar soon
@RedBeardBaron5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, it is the burnt umber ink from fw. I prefer inks when mixing with resin as they are packed with pigment.

Hey Red Beard Baron, great to see you mastered the technique through trial and error. Have you ever made any road sections? I'm looking to make some for a 40k urban warfare table but would make it modular so I could adjust.
@RedBeardBaron6 жыл бұрын
I've only ever made dirt/cobblestone roads which are some of my very first videos, but those were more for flexible roads that could adpat to the terrain. I would suggest using vinyl tile for modular roads. Easy to cut and work with and you could easily apply a concrete texture with textured spray paint or glue textured wall paper if going for a stone look.

I always get mine from either hobby lobby or Michaels here in the states whenever I see they are on sale. I have the most luck with the bulk wreath plants as they often have smaller foliage.
@omark72045 жыл бұрын
Could you please let me know what were the two products you used to make the resin? Thank you
@RedBeardBaron4 жыл бұрын
It is called envirotex lite resin. It is a two part resin that comes with the resin and its hardener.

This is inspirational, I am totally doing this for my own Death Guard army. Quick question, does the resin smell after being cured? You did mention that you should do it the pouring outside after all :)

Doesn’t smell after it dries...but during the drying process it smells horrendous

Woah Edit: what if you used GW bases but..... upside down? Then you have someone in a puddle/small crater really easy

That is a good idea, especially it I want a shallow pool as I wouldn't have to dam the resin. Great tip!

Red Beard Baron idea 💡 make a primaris marine army running into a swamp to combat these plague marines using diorama style bases of half water and half land. If you want to

Hey great bases you've done there. Quick question. What did you use for the water Effect? Greetings from Germany

For the water effect I just used mod podge but acrylic gel medium will also give the same effects.

I was trying to figure out how to do a base like this and your video answers all the questions I had... except one! What did you use to tint the resin that green swampy color? You may have said, but I probably missed it.
