I’m i’m going to be doing a similar thing but I’ll be making JLF JADAM liquid fertilizer and i’ll also extract using two other methods the first one being fermented plant extracts, and the second one being LAB!

Do you need to dilute the water ?

Went looking for willows in my town to do this, there were a few i remembered as a kid, but few are still in the same places. Hard tree to find (where i live, at least) but i hope the water will help my transplanted wild flowers to root faster! Always nicer than just buying rooting hormones

Can i grow from the smaller branches?

Rookie here, have a group of corkscrew willow cuttings in water that just started rooting (after about a week). Pencil size and up are rooting the best and several as small as 3/4 pencil size are developing slower. Happy rooting :)

How do you keep the water from getting rotten? I have 3 bottles with branch cuttings in them I’m trying to propagate from a family members fruit tree and some various other trees. I did one bottle where I just cut up the willows and put straight in the bottle with the cuttings and fresh water. The other two bottles I boiled the water and poured on top of the willow cuttings and let sit for 36 hours before adding in the cuttings. The two that I boiled the water went rancid very quickly. The one without the boiled water has not gone rancid yet but I think is on its way. It’s been about 6 days total. Should I strain out the sticks after a period of time? How often do you need to refresh the bottle with new water and willow pieces?

If you just watch the video he tells you how. Refrigerator.

This is an old comment, but i thought id add you usually DONT want to sterilize everything, especially water. When you boil the water, you are killing *everything*, both good and bad bacteria. If you kept it inoculated that would be fine, but in reality theres other microbes, fungi and bacteria that will move over to the now vacant water. If there were already micro organisms there, the new ones would have to fight all those for the space, since theres nothing, bad organisms just multiply freely

This is new to me willow water, I've always used honey and cinnamon, but looking at this and doing a study this seems really to work well so I'm doing this as I have rose cuttings to do this with. I've taken willow cuttings, except I've put them in the jar but with boiling water and will leave for 24 hours for all the goodness I need to come out
@carolday3381 Жыл бұрын
@shaneripley4560 don’t use building water. That destroys the hormone, your not making tea your extracting live hormone and its delicate. If you mixed rooting hormone powder from the store with boiling water you would render it useless, thats why the bottles say keep at room temperature. Do not use boiling water.

cinnamon honey is just a plant safe antifungal it wont cause root growth

Propagating rosebushes you don't need anything but water site taking a cutting from a willow tree and dropping it into a glass of water they don't need any help

@@Tarheelsrule Ive never found rose cuttings in water root. What kind of cutting do you take and how long in water?
@Tarheelsrule Жыл бұрын
Cuttings always go into superthrive 10 drops into a 8 oz glass of water like cutting soaking this for about an hour then dip them in rooting hormone you know what to do with them next always cover them with a clear container to provide never put cuttings in direct sunlight never then sit back and wait

Willow water doesn't works, whatever the type of willow. That is what the comparative tests show. Don't waste your time with that.
