How to Make Windows 10 More Secure
►►►SUBSCRIBE for more: www.youtube.co...
Windows 10 is the most secure operating system that Microsoft has ever release, but it still runs as administrator by default. Its imported to run Windows as a standard user to be a lot safer.
1. Use standard user account and NOT a Administrator account as your main user profile.
2. Use bitdefender or another good antivirus program.
Download: www.bitdefende...
3. Use Firewall instead of windows firewall.
Download: www.zonealarm....
4. Use Acronis True Image
5. Use common sense

The standard user account thing is nice for security but it has disadvantages when it comes to usability. The password popups are the smallest problem. Whenever there's a program that needs admin mode and wants to put stuff in let's say the documents folder or appdata, it'll put it in the admin account's documents (or appdata) making it harder to find. Make sure to make a shortcut to the admin account's user folder if you want to minimize the hassle.

I always run as Admin because I use tons of software that require it. It's a good idea though for normal users. I'm not a normal user. I keep malware away using other means. A virus can delete C drive and i'll be back up in 5 minutes. I refuse to use anti malware software including Windows Defender. I run all browsers in a sandbox and use RX Rollback Home to save the state of the machine. I'll run Malwarebytes now and then just to double check things but overall my strategy works. I haven't had a virus in years and my system runs leaner without active software trying to always check everything in the background.

Great video, I have been following this practice for years! Aside from having a good AM/AV (i.e. Win defender, good enough for most nowadays), taking advantage of UAC is one of the simplest and most efficient ways to secure yourself. This is absolutely essential on any computer intended for use as a day-to-day work machine, and should be done as soon as initial setup is finished (doing so prior will mean having to enter the password a lot of times while installing all your stuff)!

You may like to check that any settings you make to a standard account after entering an admin password to grant control access really do work. For example, from a standard account 'run window' type sysdm.cpl and then enter an admin password to continue - great - but this does not actually allow you to permanently change the Performance Options settings on a standard account. You can change the settings and all looks ok - but when you finish and log off and back on to that standard account - the changed settings you worked on have all been lost. One solution is to change the account to admin - make the Performance Options changes and then put the account back to a standard account. Windows 10 really has more than enough bugs to fill a bug house! :-) (Windows 10 home version 1909 OS Build 18363.1379 ) By the way - excellent videos - easy to follow :-) and I hate windows - always have!

The safest way to make Windows 10, is to not switch it on in the first place. Or as I mostly do, use Windows 7. I've never had a virus on either of them, but the only one I did manage to get was on Windows 98 when new to PC's, and downloaded an animated screen save, since they were all the rage when using crt monitors....:)

Easy: With free Avast, right?? Again, having a user only account will help, but it will NOT stop everything as you can always get prompted to let something run as administrator and most people would simply click and allow it... This also will NOT stop browser malware that can steal your passwords, as that does not need administrator permission. Best defense is still a proper AV. Better yet to have an IPS (intrusion protection system) that can not only check signatures of everything coming from the Internet, but also, block any IP address known to be infected or malicious. Haha, believing that “no damage was done”, without having the checksums to compare, before and after, for every file in that hard drive.

If you want to give permissions to something suspicious you should always test it on a virtual machine. You can't know it's malware until you run it as administrator(also antiviruses have false negatives and you should do that and not trust it that it will block everything)

Hmm is this tutorial for Windows 10 pro? I don’t see Local Users and Groups in Computer Management on my Account signed in as Admin. I use a standard local account for my day to day tasks and only use the admin account for making system changes etc. I don’t see this disabled administrator account at all. Surely creating a 2nd user as a local account with your default local administrator for every day computer users and using that account instead is the same as what is shown in this video? Will I still have the option to enable the disabled Administrator account in command prompt?

@@spooky3669 Well that is good, but for most people who don't even know Linux exists, this is nice to share too. There is a small % of computer people who know about Linux or use it. Market share Windows 88.14%, Apple 9.42%, Linux 1.85%, Google 0.42% - I understand your point but this video was to help most users, not a putdown on Linux. If you are in banking and have to work from home, you can't use Linux because they don't run the necessary security software required by the Feds, hospitals, so on. Once Linux gets more popular, I'm sure the virus folks will find a way to attack them once they are worth there while. I know a few people who have it, use it but they have to run dual operating systems because they can't use for anything but home use, nothing for work. I heard about Linus long ago and I am very surprised they are not a larger share by now...it has been 29 years since they came out with the first version.

In this context, the Computer Management isn't really needed as it just confirms an account is active or not. In the video, it's not really very clear as well that just the icon to the left of the name changes, when doing so. You can check if an account is active or not in other ways as well, including the tool to actually setup the password of that account, which is the User Accounts application. - When you logon, other - active - accounts are displayed as well. In fact, this is a big change to the system, as by default one would run Windows with just one account only. Starting from 2 accounts, they may be displayed on login.

The MOST STUPID and USELESS thing in the world IS Linux. Can't have 99.99% of existing softares others than common one like browsers. Can't be use by nanny because she don't know /sudo Can't use 99.99% of games already existing. Linux is like his users....USELESS.
