Great tip. I was looking for the opposite, as the power is always on in that outlet, and I wanted switched power for my dash cam. Simply moved the fuse over the other way. BINGO!

Thanks brother. Had the wire cut into where the seat had worked back and forth. Somehow in trying to fix it I put the fuse in the wrong spot. I fixed the wires and then watched your video am bam. All my 12 volts are working now.

Good tip but I just use the charge only USB port next to the media hub in the console. It is hot with the truck off. Been charging my phone like that. Mine is a 16. The "charge only" USB port is inside the top portion of the center console, next to the media usb port. There's two usb ports. One is hot all the time. I still might need to do this one day though. Handy video.

My 2017 3500 has that outlet defaulted as constant on but now i know why. I'm planning to tie in to those wires and put a constant-on outlet inside the console box. And my center console media is currently keyed so i'll have to check and see if I can switch that to constant on in the fuse box.

I am super annoyed right now...your video is spot on, and I was so excited when I found it. Put dash cams in our vehicles this morning, did my dad's first, a 2016 1500, and ran it to the back outlet. Switched on and off with the key. Ran mine the same way, 2018 1500, and it immediately turned on. And it has the picture of a battery on the cover. So I knew it was always powered, and that's when I went looking and found your video. However, even though it says "customer selectable", there are no contacts for the fuse when you move it over to the F90 spot...would this be a bad fuse box from the factory? That seems crazy to me that they would omit something like that when the spot is there for it and all they had to do was put the contacts in... I know I could just run it to the front one, but I was trying to keep it as clean as possible, and the front outlet is in such a stupid spot down in the console where it's impossible to hide a wire.

I have the same problem so I don’t think it’s a bad box. I think it either had something to do with the year or the fact I pulled my wiring for an aftermarket stereo and haven’t replaced the wiring. Is yours all stock or?

Well, that explains why mine is always on! Mine must have came that way as I plug my accessories into that port for use even when powered off. Do you know if there are any unused fuse connections that will accept a MINI (not a micro) fuse plug? I'm installing a hardwired for a dash-cam and I cannot seem to find a port that size. Same thing for my 2007 Ram (3rd Gen.) FUSE 38. Switch it over and the 12v dash aux is on/off with ignition. Arm console 12v stays constantly on.

I have an 18 Ram Laramie 2500 Diesel. Fuses are there for everything but only 12 outlet is in dash ( listed as #93 under cigar lighter.) 104 is designated as12 volt outlet on fuses box cover, no unit anywhere but a 115 volt and a USB port which are controlled by other fuses. 90-91 are there but only control USB ports.

My rear seat 115v 3 prong house type outlet, which is located on the back of the center console, doesn't work. The front outlet is located on the lower part of the dashboard slightly to the passenger side. However, it does work. My vehicle is a 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie. Please advise. Thank you 😊

@corymichael2583 Not sure if the AC outlets use the same fuse as the 12v cigarette outlet. The AC outlets have an inverter and involve more. The dealer service guy says they usually find faulty wires. I'm bringing the truck in next week to get fixed.

Yours may be directly on the outlet itself. They had two different ways to do it based on the year.

with nothing plugged in it shouldn't be much of a draw at all, actually should be no draw at all! Like the older vehicles with Cig. lighters, they stayed hot the time and had no draw until circuit completed by pushing in lighter! If something is left plugged in, that would be a problem!

It wont draw your battery i have my cutout system and my ipad charging for over 12 hrs yesterday and today the truck start perfecr so im assuming no issues at all
