Short of installing a custom ROM or overclocking your CPU, there are a variety of tweaks you can put in place to make your Android feel faster. Here are the steps:
1. Disable screen animations (Settings: Display: Animations)
2. Disable browser plugins (Browser: Settings: Plugins)
3. Use a third party launcher like LauncherPro or ADW Launcher
4. Turn off live wallpaper
5. Reduce the number of widgets and icons on your home screens
6. Uninstall any unused apps
7. Reduce frequency of data updates (Settings: Accounts)

Your point being? If your smartphone has enough power to make it run smooth with all these settings turned on then this video is definately not aimed for you. This is sound advice for people running ie with Galaxy S1, Desire S and whatmore.

I have been using Android assistant for some years now and found it really good and helpful as it has some tools that allow you to increase the speed of your device by stopping some programs in the start up or killing some of them while not in use etc. etc. . After all it's not bad to try at least the free version of it, Thanks

You're 100% Right About Tip #2 Plugin-Container (even here in my laptop when i open more Tabs of Flash Games used heavy flash plugins, the browser lagging for a while and comes back normally)

Just go to Adobe's flash archive, download the apk for the most recent android flsh player, then install said apk on your phone. You will have to enable the setting to allow the side-loading of "third-party" apps, but this is the original flash player from adobe, so there's nothing to worry about.

I don't know about GoLauncher being faster or not, but it sure is sleek and user friendly! I'm not gonna bother with trying any other launcher. My favorite feature is the easy-to-setup folders for your apps, which can reduce you down to one home screen panel. But I digress. :)

i would recommend installing some kind of storage monitoring app so you can keep an eye on your internal storage memory. it seems to be divided into 3 parts: 'system memory', system storage and any sd cards you may have installed. what i mean with 'system memory' is the part where android puts your apps when you install them and keeps the files generated by apps (like browser cache, downloaded email etc). you mention not having to many apps installed, but you can also move downloaded apps over to your SD card leaving more room in the 'system memory'. i find having a tool to see what is going on in your memory is very helpful. i use: 'disk usage & storage analyzer' from 'mobile infographics' i like it, but haven't tried any others yet.

The only reason people like the iPhone is because it is more refined. You do loose a lot of custom features on the iPhone such as custom roms, widgets, multiple appstores, side loading apps, overclocking, third part launchers, and a lot more. So, yes the iPhone is extremely refined but, it comes with a cost and loss of features

I use Go Launcher EX on my ZTE Blade, and it is very good - they also have a messenger and dialler if you like. Lots of fun skins if you like that sort of thing!

I hear you, but a second battery is really not that expensive: 8 euros or something. The obvious thing to do of course is to check what applications have been eating your battery and then uninstall or disable them, but I guess I don't need to tell you that. I reduced the screen brightness and only use one or two widgets, that helped a lot.

That clock widget is specific to TouchWiz (Samsung), i have it on my Galaxy Note. you can get a similar clock app using "Beautiful Widgets" on the android play store.

Also installing applications into your internal phone memory rather than your sd card increases access time, the time time it takes for your phone to access internal memory is much faster than in sd card, use an sd card to install photos, books and videos but not apps

When you have background data activated the phone will on a regular basis check for new emails, Facebook notifications, tweets, etc. in the background while you're doing other stuff. This can be great, as you'll be instantly notified when you get a notification on Facebook, but some don't like this. Personally I like the feature and I've never felt that it slows down the phone, I believe it's because the apps only do it once in a while.

@plenglart The main thing that slows down a phone is when an app (that is in the foreground) takes up multiple CPU cycles. Task Killers may kill an app, but it starts right back up, making another CPU cycle, slowing down the phone even further. When using a task killer, it may seem like your phone is faster, but in reality, you just killed probably 1 app that was hogging resources. Look for apps that are constantly connecting to the internet, as those are the apps that hog the most resources

Several reasons, but here is a few of them: Shorter wifi scan interval Undervolted CPU/Better CPU governor No pesky background processes, you can choose autostart apps ROMS are based on android vanilla, no retailer or operator apps Less memory usage, depends on the version Lighter kernels etc. Of course all ROMs don't necessarily increase battery life, every stable lite ROMs and cyanogenmod has so far on HTC wildfire, nexus s and galaxy nexus for me.
