For God sake! If you love both system equal don't blame android. You said it yourself. It's the Americans carriers AND SAMSUNG. For instance my Sony Xperia Z5 don't have any or much bloatware. It's a bought phone and no carrier connected to the phone. The easiest way, BUY and pay the whole phone choose your decided carrier. I know it's not as simple as doing this in Sweden. Also HTC for instance is a quite clean system. I like Samsung's hardware but I think their software is more bloated than Sony and HTC.

I knew it was bs when he said "without root" Obviously not a Linux or Unix user if you don't have root access on ANY Linux/Unix (Android is a Linux distro) distro, you cannot make kernel level changes. Plain and simple, this includes moving apps to an SD card and still having them perform the same way, or at all. Most apps that claim to do this are just making a file structure mirror, which actually takes up more space. Also you do not need ADB to disable Apps. You can do this from inside the Android OS. Running or not.
@m.shanebritton78302 жыл бұрын
Good guide, but the term "remove" with regard to bloatware isn"t quite accurate. The preinstalled system apps (bloatware) are actually being disabled via adb shell, not removed from the device. Those apps are still fully intact on the /system, /product, /oem or /vendor partitions. The only way to fully remove them is by superuser access over the Android OS, or by installing a custom recovery such as TWRP, mounting the /system partition as R/W (or other partitions in which preinstalled apps are present), and using recovery"s native file management interface to individually remove the unwanted apps.

I love how everyone just states that Bloatware is an Android problem and that apple doesn't bloat it's devices. I don't need a Health App, neither various of their sales programs that they hide behind names such as iBooks, Music, newsstand. I don't check stock market ever, and haven't facechated or used iMessage my entire life and I probably won't in the future. In the unlikely scenario that I had an iPhone, I would still use the google ecosystem, because it is available on all platforms and I use many different systems. So by my definition iCloud and almost every app that starts with an i is bloat.
@bryanmiller4767 жыл бұрын
Oskar Kepke For bloat ware, typically it's carrier provided apps that come preinstalled and iPhones never come with anything from a carrier preinstalled Only apples apps are preinstalled and therefore every iPhone is the same as others from other carriers, also they don't have carrier branding on the outside of the phone either
@okidokayay7 жыл бұрын
You can buy any android phone without a carrier branding or preinstalled carrier apps either. Simply don't buy it from a carrier. If what you said were true and the term bloatware refered only to those apps preinstalled by carriers, than by your definition for desktop computers there wouldn't be such a thing as bloatware, because they don't have carriers. Nevertheless we all know there actually is bloatware on desktop computers. Bloatware is a term for preinstalled software that isn't requiered to operate the device in its usual usage scenario and usually hard or almost impossible to remove. The reason for installing bloatware can be different. Sometimes its installed because the hardware is paid for doing so (McAffee on Desktops for example) has an economical interest in doing so, for example by differentiating himself from other manufacturers that use the same operating system (all of Samsungs crappy preinstalled apps) or by promoting its own ecosystem in which he hopes to generate more money (literally every second app on an iPhone) Sometimes it's only installed because the manufaturer assumes the customer wants it (facebook, twitter....) At the end of the day it all comes down to this: Bloatware is sofware that coul easily be installed after purchase by the users themselves, that is unnecessary to operate the device and hard to remove. Apple includes three types of bloatware: iBooks, iTunes, Podcasts, Home, TV, Wallet (which are all sales platforms in which apple hopes to acquiere more money or sell more devices. They could be easily made available via the App Store instead of being preinstalled, they are the most classical bloatware, unnecessary to the majority of users, looking at the sales figures of Apple TV and Watch compared to iPhone, you can safely assume that far less than 5% of iPhone users will be unsing either app.) These are on the one hand the most bloaty ones but on the other hand the ones that apple will most likely generate the most additional revenue with. Then there are the ones which are somewhere inbetween, they are arguably usueful to a wide audience, but there will also be a whole bunch of users using an alternative app and therefore not needing the one Apple provided or not using them at all: Health, Facetime, Maps, News, Stocks, iCloud drive, Find my phone, Find my friends, Tips. These are mainly there to promote Apples ecosystem, because that is what keeps up customer loyalty. The third category are apps that are useful to most users and won't be replaced by most but nevertheless could easily be acquiered through the app store instead of being preinstalled, like Contacts, Clock, Calendar etc.. Whilst I do agree that they should be preinstalled, as otherwise the phone would be more or less useless out of the box, I object to the fact that on Apple's iPhone as on many other smartphones they can not be deinstalled, which again makes them bloatware by my definition. Power users often rely on alternatives, as the preinstaled ones often offer limited functionality.
@bryanmiller4767 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't have to buy your android phone outright and not from a carrier just so it doesn't come with the carrier bloat ware That means paying lots more money for the phone and that's not how majority of smartphone buyers get them, they generally do go buy from a carrier Hence the huge lines at stores during iPhone launch days
@okidokayay7 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the USA (which I'm assuming you're talking about) but where I live in Germany you almost never save when buying from carriers. Most people that do so just like a fixed monthly price or basically can not afford to pay the phone upfront. Anyway my remarks were about the fact that apple does have bloatware, not that android phones don't or have less. It's fortunate for Apple and their customers that their market postition in the USA is strong enough to unlike the other manufacturers decide themselves about whichever bloatware to preinstall and not have the carriers grip on that but that doesn't change the fact that an app, which has the sole purpose of connecting to another gadget like the Apple TV, that less than 5% of their customers actually posess can not be called anything but bloatware.

I'm not saying it'll be as fast as it was when you first started it, but it'll probably lag as much as anyone elses if used in the same way. These "performance tips" are as true as the ones where they claim you SAVE battery from removing apps from the cache memory (Lol, "Phone Boosters")... Surely, if you have some kind of _VIRUS_, you'll find these increases as "boosting", but yeah.. If you say so :)

Hi, great tutorial. Clear, understandable and very useful. The only issue I' am dealing with is that I can't find online, even at the link you posted, a working version of debloater for mac "el capitain". The 3.85 and the upgrade 3.90 give an error ones launched. Have you any suggestion where to get it? Thanks for support.

Thumb down from misleading title. Disabling and hiding a bloatware program is not the same than removing (aka uninstalling), since you don't get the memory space it is occupying, it simply gets deactivated.
@rachelslur87296 жыл бұрын
Not true. Watch the whole video.
@HarryHamsterChannel6 жыл бұрын
Not even really deactivated. In many cases. he's just hiding the icon. Does not improve phone performance. Might cause weird problems?
@rachelslur87296 жыл бұрын
Bob G I believe "deactivating" here means uninstalling the app, but keeping the _.apk_ in internal flash storage. So to launch the app again you have to go into settings to "enable" (install the app) to run it again.
@HarryHamsterChannel6 жыл бұрын
think they let you off that easy? depends on the app.
@rachelslur87296 жыл бұрын
Bob G No. If this program allows your phone you disable system apps, you can disable all system apps. Tyrannical roms like MIUI and most Chinese roms make disabling system apps very difficult becouse they earn by spying on users.

Hopefully you'll still respond to comments on this video seeing as it's over 3 years old. I have a moto e4 plus currently running Android 7.1.1. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but my phone came with apps pre-installed that I don't want but can't remove via Play store. No, these are not apps pertaining to operating systems on my phone. I'm talking about Amazon, Amazon Kindle, Amazon music, Audible, Prime videos, Instagram, and Prime Videos. Sounds crazy right? Or maybe you know this by now. If not, I am dead serious that I didn't install these apps and cannot uninstall them. I've no doubt that Amazon pays cell phone makers/developers (whatever) to do this but I don't think, as a consumer purchasing any phone, should have to deal with this since I'm also paying for the same device. Or, maybe it's a way for companies to provide cheaper smart phones to people, like myself, can't afford to purchase models like Samsung Galaxy or iPhones. I suppose I shouldn't assume. I will want these apps gone though, if possible. So, what I'm wondering is will this method completely remove these apps from my device or is there possibly another way I can do this? I've got them all disabled and made sure they can't run in the background but I know they're still taking up memory and this drives me insane. I appreciate any help or resources you can provide me with. Thanks so much for your time.
