I see a lot of Todoist and Apple Reminders content in your videos recently Carl, but you mentioned in the face off between them you'd concluded to stay with Todoist. Are you using both currently then? As these Apple Reminders screen captures appear to be live, working tasks! I'm currently setting up Apple Reminders for both work and life, liking the integrations so far and feel Apple will continue to improve the app's usefulness.

I do these videos to help people better understand Reminders (or Todoist, Evernote, Apple Notes etc). My own personal system hasn’t changed for almost ten years and it’s unlikely to change as it works. Reminders is great, but all I use it for on a day to day basis is as my family grocery list .

I see, makes sense. Thanks for the reply (and great content). Out of interest do you use Todoist for full project management or something like Clickup/Asana/Notion etc etc? :) @@Carl_Pullein

Hello! I appreciate the video. How can I access the smart lists for This Week or This Month? Using Relative Range → In the Next Week or Month doesn't seem to provide accurate segmentations for the current week or month.
@Carl_Pullein11 ай бұрын
You shouldn't really need to do that. The idea with the Time Sectors is there is the manual input from you. Each week, you do the weekly planning and decide what can be or needs to be brought forward. Trying to use tech to do that for you will result in a mess, as a lot of what we think needs doing doesn't need doing after all.

love the smart lists but not sure but is there a way to create one to show tmrw's tasks only? (I know how to create the filter in Todoist as i am trying out Reminders fully now). Thank you.
@Carl_Pullein Жыл бұрын
No. However, you do have the Scheduled list, which will show you what is scheduled for tomorrow (and into the future). It's organised by date so it's very easy to see that list.

Hi Carl, thank you very much for sharing your tips on how to use Apple reminder. But one thing confuses me that I don't know how to quick capture tasks on macOS like using cmd+space on Todoist. So could you please show me that how to capture tasks as quick as possible? (BTW, I know Siri is a good solution, but have another way to do so?)

Do you have any content showing how to create a Smart List for "Next Week" or "Next Month's" tasks?
@justindblankenship Жыл бұрын
That is, where those criteria do NOT include anyting "up to" those timeframes. So, a Smart List to show only Next Week's reminders without also showing this week's? Thanks!
@accentontheoff Жыл бұрын
Yeah wondering about something similar. I’d like to see just the running week’s reminders (Mon to Fri) and then switch to a kanban view at will. Todoist does that.
@Carl_Pullein Жыл бұрын
I don’t have a video on this, but I suspect you will not be able to do that because Apple thinks the schedule view gives you that information already. (Although probably in a format most people don’t want)
@maigallop Жыл бұрын
You can do it by creating smart lists filtering by date, using specified range. However, as part of your weekly set up, you would have to change the dates every week for the this week and next week folders and monthly for the this month and next month folders so it’s not convenient but it does work. I tried using the relative range and that won’t work because the choices aren’t available to filter like one would want.
@accentontheoff Жыл бұрын
@@maigallop Yes that sounds like a lot of work though doesn’t it. Todoist does a decent job of this through its Upcoming view when combined with Boards, so I finally switched to it. I don’t think any other app does this, although there are still a few I haven’t tried.

Create a new list and call it "InBox". Once that is set up, you can then add it to your favourites by tapping the edit button and moving to the top.
