I give my cockatiel treats and he still tries to bite me when i approach him with a finger, of course slowly, when i approach with a treat he doesnt try to bite at all, i cant make him get up on my fingers or anything, i let him get out of the cage by his own pace, i can do it only at weekends. He somewhat trusts me but theres something missing that im not figuring out.

But what if every time I'm opening the cage door my bird is trying to run away what do I do to make him trust me in a way that he won't run away from me even my mom had a bird and ever she had built trust with him but every time she opened the cage door he will try to run away how can I fix that

I’ve also experienced this I have tried a lot of times but whenever I tried to get it out it flies all over the place and it’s hard to get back to da cage….so I thought I have to train my bird in some type of way it’s been about 1year rn he’s the best bird I thought him tricks and also he stays on my shoulder he doesn’t run away so I would say keep trying….btw you can look at some tutorials on KZbin…. Never give up….😊

They are mostly just exercising after a few hours or days in the cage. If it trys to escape, try to spend more time with ur bird(s)

You say if the bird is tired or is uncomfortable it should return to its cage immediately. That is the problem. My bird will not go to its cage even with treats offered. Therefore I must put my hand on his back to keep him from flying away from me and return him to his cage. How do you suggest I get him to voluntarily return to his cage?

With my bird I let her out for hours at a time. She knows the only place she'll get food is in her cage so she'll fly into it eventually.

​@@Ranjtpsabsolutely NOT cut its Wings are you insane?! Thats torture. Birds are MEANT to fly! Its their damn nature! Just keep the window closed and everything will be fine. It just has to be in a closed room. When its back in the cage for food you can close it and open the windows to let in some air.
