Time to step up y'all crawfish game and invest in a Boil Boss! I promise you the flavor will hit you as soon as you taste the first crawfish out the pot! Don't let all that juicy flavor go to waste, use the Boil Boss to capture and draw in all that juicy goodness into the crawfish. Flavor is what you want, flavor is what you will get when you invest in a Boil Boss.
Please check out their website. I promise you it will pay for itself on your first use and then some. Why spend all that money on crawfish and ingredients to let all that flavor go to waste? Boil Boss is the real deal, trust me, I'm sold on their product and will be taking it on the road next year to compete in Louisiana Crawfish Cook Off.

I've seen the Boil Boss on another KZbin channel, I think Smokey Joe's who also does all kinds of cooking. Reminds me of a hula hoop with holes in it. But hey, it works. Yes, this could be a game changer in bringing down the heat fast and preserving the flavor of those mudbugs. As I have learned from you, overcooking destroys the texture of crawfish. Hey, bro nice vid. I just ordered a boil boss and will be doing a crawfish boil this weekend. Just one question, how long do you soak the crawfish, after you get the temp down to 150?
@MidnightCravings
@MidnightCravings 5 жыл бұрын
Once you get it down to 150 degree Fahrenheit cut the water off. Let it soak anywhere from 5 -15 minutes. It no longer cooks the crawfish BUT soaks in ALL THAT FLAVOR, the longer you let it soak the more spice and heat it absorbs. I'm comfortable with around 6-8 minutes. You're gonna love it man, it will change the way you cook and taste that crawfish. The flavor/juice stands out the moment you suck that crawfish head, so damn good.

I just ordered mine and will use it next weekend. How long would you suggest to boil the crawfish once it comes back to a boil since the water is being cooled so quickly?
@MidnightCravings
@MidnightCravings 5 жыл бұрын
Boil for another minute and then cut off the heat. Turn on the boil boss half way, enough to see water spraying the pot, not full blast. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature, initially it should be around 200 or 212 degree Fahrenheit, stir the pot to keep the broth moving to evenly cool down the pot. Bring it down to around 155 degree Fahrenheit and cut off the water, let the crawfish crawfish soak for another 5 minutes and then serve.
@KevinParnella
@KevinParnella 5 жыл бұрын
@@MidnightCravings great. So when the water once again cimes to a boil after the crawfish have already been added to the pot, you are boiling them for about 7 minutes?
@MidnightCravings
@MidnightCravings 5 жыл бұрын
@@KevinParnella No, after adding the crawfish and letting them come back to a boil, you cook for 1 MORE MINUTES and that's it, kill the heat! Once you kill the heat set up the boil boss around the rim of the pot and turn on the water to spray the pot. At this point you are trying to stop the cooking process by dropping the temperature of the pot. Even though you killed the heat the temperature at this point is still around 200 degrees fahrenheit (212 is the boiling point), use the boil boss to cool down the pot. At around 200 degrees it is still cooking the crawfish, the residual heat as we called it, will continue to cook the crawfish, which we do NOT want. The time it take to drop the temperature from around 200 degrees Fahrenheit down to 155 degrees is less than 10 minutes! Usually it takes me around 5 or 6 minutes to get to 155 degrees. So after it comes back to a boil you only COOK FOR 1 MORE MINUTES...that's it! After that you kill the heat and start the cooling process to make way for the soaking process. The boil boss is part of the cooling process that brings down the temperature and at around 160 degrees most of your crawfish should have sunk down into the bottom of the pot, a very good indication your crawfish has absorbed the flavor. Watch the video and see the inventor himself demonstrate as he is using the boil boss, he is looking at the thermometer to make sure he stops at around 150 degrees. After that cut off the water. At this point.... you can either scoop and serve to your guests OR let them soak anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes. The longer you let them soak at this moment the more spice AND heat it will pick up! Personally, I let mine soak for another 3-5 minutes and then serve them to my guests. Hope that helps. Let me know if you still need clarification....lol

I @@MidnightCravings. Boil Boss worked well. The crawfish were spicy. However I wanted to ask you about muddy crawfish. I purged the crawfish and the water was clear after my third and final purge. I did get the crawfish from a Farmer's Market outside of Atlanta. The crawfish smelled a bit even though they appeared alive but had quite a bit of muddy taste to them. I won't use this Farmer's Market again. Do you have any idea why they had that muddy taste to them?
@MidnightCravings
@MidnightCravings 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, they tend to get lost in all these comments. By nature crawfish will always have that muddy taste whether they're farm raised in a rice pond or wild caught in the swamp. They like to burrow down at the bottom hence the term mudbugs. Now you know why the pot is heavily seasoned and spiced, to season the crawfish and overcome that muddy taste. Because it's heavily seasoned it can't be used for anything else other than boiling crawfish. Stay tuned I will be posting a video to dip with the crawfish tail just like Raising Canes sauce.

Dude because of you I craved seafood so bad I went to a local joint. The food was fresh but bruh the seasoning was soooooo beyond disappointing. I have cooked my own frozen seafood with flavor to die for. You are absolutely right it IS all about the seasoning. I had live cooked crawfish with NO bite, no zing. Only edible because it was cooked well, but man I really longed for FLAVOR. So frustrating to have all that good seafood and NO flavor. I would have kill for just some damn salt! My fries were more seasoned than my seafood! I went for the fresh crawfish but also had snowcrab peel and eat shrimp, I'll cook at home from now on. I had to bite the seafood and eat some sausage for flavor! Or I'd bite the seafood and follow with the season salted fries..I never needed sausage with what I cooked at home. But the savoryness of the sausage somewhat passified my Uber mega disappointment and tempered my dissatisfaction with the experience as a whole.

Hello sir. Is there any issue with letting the crawfish stay in the pot when cooling below 155 for 45 minutes to an hour? The reason I ask is because I need to deliver some and instead of taking out the crawfish for that long of time, figured it may be better leaving them in the pot for that long. Boiling on Thursday!
@MidnightCravings
@MidnightCravings 4 жыл бұрын
Letting them soak any longer than 30 minutes run the risk of 2 things: the longer you let them soak the spicier and saltier it will soak in, and you might overcook them to the point the meat will break down or crumble in pieces. You're better off soak them for 20-30 minutes and then take them out and put them in an ice chest till it's time to serve them.
@InfoWarsDixie
@InfoWarsDixie 4 жыл бұрын
@@MidnightCravings instead of trying to figure out a rolling boil vs hard boil, thoughts on just waiting to put the crawfish in at 200 or at 212 versus just guessing? I think I overcooked mine today because I didn't want to take it out too early not understanding how long it should boil at 212?
@MidnightCravings
@MidnightCravings 4 жыл бұрын
@@InfoWarsDixie Once you add the crawfish into the pot, 5 minutes later check to see they float to the top. When they float to the top it's a good indication they are 90% cooked. I give it another minute and turn off the heat. Use the Boil Boss ring or a garden hose to hose outside the pot and bring the pot down to around 150 Degree Fahrenheit. Once the crawfish absorbs all that flavor they will sink back down to the bottom of the pot. After that let them soak anywhere from 10-20 minutes. The longer you let them soak the stronger the flavor and spicer they will absorbed. If the crawfish meat crumbled then you pretty much have overcooked your crawfish.

I let them come to a rolling boil and then KILL the heat. Next I drop the Boil Boss ring (connected to the garden hose) onto the pot to cool down the pot and bring down the temperature to around 150-160 degree Fahrenheit. This cooling process takes around 5 minutes as you stir and move the water around as it spray around the pot). Turn off the water and let the soaking period begin. You can let them soak anywhere from 20-30 minutes, longer you let them soak spicier it gets. After that you're good to serve them hot to your guests as is. Thanks for watching.
