Not only do you get a more favorable split with TikTok for the first couple months but you also have all these TikTok shop affiliates ready to promote your product

You are also taking more risk by being a vendor as you are responsible for managing the shop and managing and paying for inventory. It is not a bad idea to start as affiliate, build a brand, stack capital and then open your vendor shop.

My biggest hurdle has always been trying to figure out what to sell. Every product I ever think about seems to be over saturated already.

Dropshipping and selling through TikTok or reselling on Amazon is not sustainable in the long run at this point. You're right, everything is saturated because people are mostly reselling very cheap stuff from Aliexpress, Temu and Shein at much higher prices. Those are not good quality products and customers will soon get tired of throwing money away on stuff that breaks after a few weeks. Also, because so many are doing the same thing, they can only compete on the price, so it will soon stop being profitable. Business is centered around products and services, we're all connected through them. You need to create your own product or service because that has intrinsic value. You can price it depending on how much people need it. You don't have to make anything yourself but people are selling all sorts of stuff: knitted toys, wedding invitations, clay charms. Some have bought vending or laundry machines and are making a lot of money from that, or they flip furniture, power wash driveways or fix things around the house. Find something that offers real value to people, make them need you. It doesn't have to be original, there are many car sellers and plumbers in the world. Do something you're good at or interested in, that way you can grow over the years and maybe even build multiple businesses.
