Thanks for sharing great tips. I remember that I used an iPhone 6s to make my first video and I don't know anything about filming, I started to learn from 0. I think with YT, we need to be consistent on this journey, improve content everyday, it's not a story of 1-2 months, when you focus on what, you will get results from it.

My first video was DIY on a Maglite flashlight and what Sean said is true. Man, I don't know how many times I messed up, and took me a lot of time just for that video. Once, I am done editing and uploaded it to youtube and my video had BiG FAT zero views. I don't know why, I was rookies at the time. Later down the road, I found out why I didn't get any views because I didn't add any keywords/tags and with bad thumbnail. After I fixed the thumbnail and add all the keywords/tags then the algo started recommending my video to the world. My video was from 0 view to over 5k views ever since I did all that. Thanks to you Sean. Now, if anyone out there were doing your first video, don't be discouraged by all those things. Just be yourself and do what you love, and you'll be fine. Happy shooting your video and Merry Christmas.

I started about 10 months ago, and shot 19 videos, and have improved from being incredibly awkward to a little less awkward. however after watching many help and advice channels and videos like these, I have learned a great deal and have gone back and made changes to those videos and have seen a definite positive influence towards them. I now wish I could go back in and make many edits with in the videos to fix a lot of horrible stuff, but don't see any way of doing that, and I'm concerned about editing the saved copy and reuploading the modified version and losing the views and stats already accounted for on my channel.

I’m a teenager and I’ve been watching a lot of getting started videos, for making a new yt channel. I’ve been taking notes on this video in particular (bullet points), it’s helped me a lot. I want to start filming now, but again, I’m a teen, who still doesn’t have a phone. I forgot I talked about getting a phone with my parents earlier this morning, and I’ve realized that I might just wait until we buy my phone (which is happening!) to upload a video. I have the proper film equipment, editing equipment, and lighting equipment, except I want a phone to upload a cover photo for my videos. As it has said when I tried to upload a video cover to my past KZbin ‘channels’. Yet still, I want to thank you right now, although I’m 2 years late, for this video you posted, I found it very useful. Thank you so much! Thanks for this. Honestly, before focusing on it, I haven't realized how many cuts you had and it even does not feel distracting or noticeable. And microphone or room acoustic are far from perfect, but more so in some parts. I can instantly notice this flaws in my own attempts. My first problem: noise background of the microphone. Second problem: i live on somewhat busy street in the city center. Third problem: As soon as I move to the kitchen, fridge turns on or some kids are playing inside the block. Fourth problem: how to filter noises of own breath. Fifth problem: when I hit record button, I suddenly need five times more oxygen can't seem to talk for 20 seconds without suffocating. What kind of helps is cutting video into twenty seconds blocks and remove hands from the frame so cuts are not so obvious. Filming myself? No, thanks. Also I don't know how exactly to process audio. Camera and basically anything seem to have some automatic gain control. So during silent parts, some noises are creeping in. I may try to experiment and use for example camera with wifi connection to phone if i can see recording (not sure) or record audio using phone with USB sound card to place microphone a bit further. For editing DaVinci Resolve seems fine, but I need to make some cheat sheet for myself (how to delete video and move rest of timeline, how to make picture in picture, ...)
