Textiles are always a "go to" for me, they can really change the vibe of a space, are affordable and take up minimal storage. Loved this video, Hannah. I too have wasted a lot of money on things I didn’t love. I really try hard now to follow those rules, but sometimes i get caught up in having to get it now. I do feel like my home tells a story, which includes a few of my moms paintings. She was a beautiful artist, (oils). I also love the fact that i am the only one who have these pieces in my home. Probably sounds nuts, but sometimes I go around my home and look at those intentional pieces and think of the story behind each one, whether it was a part of my family history or I purchased it. and you are right a good gallery wall is beautiful!

Of course as you stated I have bought a cheaper version of something only to be disappointed and eventually buy what I wanted in the first place. This is an area where we need to reconsider settling for a cheaper option to get that temporary gratification. Save up and wait for the items you love. Great tips in this video!😘

Yes! And thank you! I'm looking forward to the end of the "make your home look expensive" phrase. It's not even grammatically correct. You are saying it right...make your home look curated. I don't think the designers even mean "make it look expensive". They mean make it feel quality, thought out, curated, as you said, but they're latching on to the expensive word because they think that's what people want to hear and it sounds tacky IMO. Another word used incorrectly (not by you) while I'm ranting haha...is "aesthetic". People say "it looks aesthetic" . Noooo, it looks aesthetically pleasing or it has a beautiful design aesthetic, but it can't LOOK aesthetic. Great ideas, beautiful designs (that loft!), and I better sign off before I earn a Karen title. 😂

Great advice!! I love watching the KZbin content and kinda got in a loop of the trends then I found myself getting tired of my house more quickly because I felt like I was seeing the same thing over and over. I kicked myself because I know better then to do this. I have always tried to have a more unique space. After watching some of the influencers videos and leading myself down the wrong path I felt like my home was looking to replicated. I have found myself going back to my vintage stash and loving how my home feels so much more. One thing I will say I feel like pillows can be over done. Nothing worse then feeling like you can’t make yourself comfortable because you don’t want to mess up the couch. ❤

I think everyone can relate to your comment Catrina. It’s so easy to get caught up in the latest drop from Target. I mean that’s what consumerism is. I still love Target and still love seeing the new items that come to the shelves. But I’ve gotten so much better about leaving things behind. When my Instagram feed looks like the same house over and over ….. it makes you think twice about buying from the big box brands so much. I so relate to the buy only what you love! I too have wasted so much money just buying something because I need to fill a space. I problem is the things i love are so expensive it's hard to convince myself to get it, I'm afraid that I might not like it a year down the road and then feel like I have to keep it because I spent so much money on it. My theory all along was I want to love everything i buy but I didn't stick with it. I am trying now while in the process of redoing my Master bedroom

We are all guilty of it. There is a chance that you might have a change of heart down the road. I still thinking buying what you love... even if it is a little more expensive. Just remember that if you do sell something a little more expensive down the road, you are able to still get a higher return on it (if sold)... vs. something that is from Target. If that makes sense???

Great tips and advice in this video Hannah. When people enter my home I want them to feel like it gives them a warm hug, and reveals a bit of our story! So true, Hannah. I've been trying to focus on only purchasing the things that I truly love, instead of buying items that are on sale/clearance just bc it's a great deal. It's really not a great deal if you don't truly love it. I'd rather save up & purchase better quality pieces that will stand the test of time and will last me for years. Hi Hannah, I really enjoyed this video. Every tip is so true and equally important. Your last tip though hit home for me. I have spent so much many buying things I don’t love and I meant clothes, home decor furniture, etc., just because they are affordable, on sale or available right away. Instead of investing in things I truly love in the last two years I started decluttering and this help me realized how much money I have wasted over the years. Now I have been a lot more thoughtful of my purchases even though I still get off track every once in a while. I am learning to be patient and wait until I can get something I really like. I feel like you are less likely to want to replace something you really love. Plus I love how I can now move around the pieces I do have around my home and create a new look for a space. Much Love !
